Anyone who's played Contra knows what spread is. If you're not trying to save anyone but yourself, spread is your go-to. As for the zombie apocalypse, I've seen a ton of movies, and the Walking Dead, so I've thought about this a bit... Find a Cosco, and take it over. You've got fortification with one main entrance, and a loading dock with a metal door. You've got plenty of room for a bunch of people. All those pallet racks can be converted into bunks... assuming these zombies can't climb... There's supplies for quite a while if it's stocked, and there should even be bags of soil and even seeds. Just build a few veggie beds on the roof, and inside in case of bad weather. There's also a good chance they have all manner of weapon (or tools you can use as weapons) in stock. a nice big roof also allows for water collection and sniping. Yup. I'm a geek.

A shotgun shoots multiple projectiles. The spread is the pattern of the lead. A widespread is acceptable for real close range. The size (diameter) and quantity (number of projectiles), and amount of gun powder is optional per shell. Plus shotguns come in different sizes. The smaller the number, the larger the diameter of the barrel. From small to large (more powerful): 410 gauge, 20 guage, 16 guage, 12 guage, 10 guage, 8 guage (not available anymore).

Zombie Apocalypse - Simple Choice. I'm heading straight to the nearest marina with a fishing rod, a saw, and a box of large, clear, zip-lock bags. I'm stealing the first half-decent sail-boat I can find, and I'm heading out to sea. The fishing rod is self-explanatory. The saw is so that I can occasionally nip ashore somewhere to quickly cut down some wood. The zip-lock bags, can be used as a basic UV water treatment (sunlight) for cleaning the water after its boiled (hence the wood).

I mean people stopped laughing at "paranoid preppers" the second covid hit and it caused massive supply chain issues with empty shelves. Suddenly everyone became a prepper. Not sure why the main item was toilet paper though rofl. Plus it's better to be prepared with a 3 month food/water supply with a few solar panels and power banks in areas that's prone to destructive disasters like us in FL. We get hit with hurricanes. Having your power knocked out for a week really, REALLY sucks in hot, humid conditions. No AC or even fan and trying to sleep was a nightmare for me. Then I bought solar, lights got knocked out for 3 days and here I was running an AC unit. It was heaven.

I’ve thought about what the cheapest way to prep would be and assuming you’re living space is secure you could live for a pretty long time on some kind of vegetable oil, protein powder, salt and multi vitamins, and then I’d also get some Metamucil because otherwise your basically just eating protein powder and vegetable oil. Then fill up your bathtub(s) and sinks for water. All those things are pretty affordable and don’t spoil quickly, and you’d be able to live off just those things for a pretty long time if you rationed them well

The security lady in Alien VS Predator had a cool response when asked why she was carrying a gun, she said it is like a condom I would rather have one and not need it than to need it and not have it. As for the "shotgun" goes it fires a shell that usually contains 6 (buckshot) to 30 (birdshot for small game) pellets depending on the size of the pellet, the spread can vary on how fast those pellets come out of the barrel, the length of the barrel and most importantly the size of the end of the barrel known as choke. A "full choke" shotgun will make a tighter pattern as compared to an open choke. It depends on the distance of your "target" as to which choke to use. Another cool video young lady.

I'm not a proper per say but I do stock pike some supplies simply because I want options. Natural distasters are my man concern, there were people killing each other and even making spears after hurricane Katrina. All most people need is to buy extra water and canned food every month, a little at a time, at not tell anyone because if anyone knows you have extra as soon as something happens they'll be knocking on your door. Having guns and ammunition and learning how to use them, beyond shooting stationary paper, is also a good idea. I only spend about $20 a month buying something here and there. My goal is to be able to shelter in place for 2 weeks, if order isn't restored after that then it might not be.

So in realistic terms, I would prepare for maybe that long with food, etc. I grew up hunting, have all the guns I need. I don't care about zombies LOL I care about me and the people I love being able to survive a rough patch. That also involves other people, friends, relatives who would care for each other. I'm not a prepper, but I have accumulated quite a few firearms over the years (12 rifles, 4 shotguns, 16 pistols). Summer of 2021, I read Taylor Schumann's book "When Thoughts and Prayers Aren't Enough," in which she relates her own experience about being shot while working at a college. I was convicted of my own insensitivity toward people who were targets of gun violence, so, after discussion with my wife, we agreed to contribute to the local family violence an amount equal to my investment in guns, ammo, and equipment. If you think you'd like to try it, rent a .22 pistol at your local firing range, and see how it goes. A Ruger SR22 is what I bought my gift-from-God, happily-ever-after trophy wife Vanessa, the elegant, foxy, praying black grandmother of Woodstock, GA. I'm right there with you, though, on not wanting to survive an apocalypse of ANY type. My body relies completely on things produced a long way off, and brought to my store and pharmacy in trucks driving on interstates. Peace be on your household.

For zombie books I like the Monster Trilogy; Monster Island, M Nation and M Planet. The usp is that in the midst of the zombie outbreak/apocalypse we find that the thing that makes zombies dumb is the oxygen deprivation to the brain while the body dies and reanimates and a handful of people intentionally or accidentally manage to avoid this and become 'liches', intelligent undead with unique abilities for the small price of needing to eat people for their lifeforce.

What most people don't realize about a "zombie apocalypse" is that in any scenario where 99+% of the population died suddenly, the remaining 1>% would have enough canned food, flour, and/or rations to last for years, perhaps even decades before they would have to rely on seasonal crops. Violence is good for drama, but in reality when everybody has x10 supplies it would be a needless risk.
@ravenward6262 жыл бұрын
It's easy to dismiss preppers and mormons for setting aside supplies, or generating some themselves as unnecessary precautions; but there are certainly potential benefits. By owning and maintaining their own property they insulate themselves from rent increases. By growing some of their own food they insulate themselves from supply chain disruptions in and international economy. There were people who weathered the great depression of the 1930's gracefully by not being dependent on fluctuating markets. Also, in times of hyperinflation many of the goods and land they posses can appreciate with their use value, as opposed to cash holdings. Just like Bill was suggesting security can also be a concern. I've read several architectural guides that catered to preppers and you might be surprised what effects can be achieved without modifying a home's appearance. As long as you account for the extra weight you can make almost any wall resistant to even high caliber small arms fire. Less need to worry about who's in behind a wall if your bullets wont pass through them.
