Bill Burr seldom says something negative about another comic. And when he does he keeps the names quiet. Guy is a class act and deserves all the success he is enjoying.

I've noticed something about Bill Burr: he's a much kinder, more supportive, positive and down to earth guy than you might expect given his stand up material. Don't get me wrong I find him hilarious but like being an angry asshole is kind of his brand.

@@drummerrck To me, younger Bill Burr's "aggravated cynicism" persona seemed to free-flow like a volcano, from somewhere deep. You didn't get a sense there was any acting involved. I think welcoming his daughter into the world helped him mellow out a good bit. Mine damn sure did for me.

@@drummerrck A lot of that stuff on stage is him engaging with that crotchety instinct while also tearing it down. It's not all just that, but... I liken it a bit to Archie Bunker, a character created to make fun of that type of person, except with Burr it's not so much a character as it is "here's some crap that runs through my head about this or that when I'm in a mood, gone over and made funny when I get in a better one."

hearing one of my favorite comedians talk about my favorite youtuber from 15ish years ago feels like a fever dream how big Bo Burnham is loved and makes me feel justified into showing everyone Bo's videos for this long and always go back to it. Seeing the up roar of "Inside" for everyone during Covid was truely rightful. He deserves all the love. He battles with himself, and needs to worry less. I hope in 20 years he relaxes and just makes fun of everything and everyone. I can't wait to hear it.

@@daroaminggnome agreed, he was sellin shows out. But I hated his fuckin ass since day one. I remember all my friends quoting him, and it was infuriating cuz nothin they said was even a joke, there was no set up and no punch line. You’re right of course, no one can define comedy. If anything, he just highlights how important stage presence is, cuz his whole act was in the performance. I’ve done some stand up before, and im a fuckin stiff. But shit, I write jokes that are funny no matter who is sayin em, cuz I can’t perform. And I don’t like comedy that is a performance, I prefer witty clever shit. Dane Cook felt like the first famous comedian of the 2000s. I remember him hitting his stride during my high school years and it was like everyone knew his act verbatim. White kids, blacks, mexicans. Mainstream crossover success. That was lightning in a bottle. He got a bit too full of himself it seemed and the overexposure was real. Was weird to see people try and pretend he was never funny or they werent lauging their insides out just a year or two prior. That guy is the definition of striking while the iron is hot.

It's not like today where the age of the internet plasters everything online and you're over-exposed to every wannabe comic with a camera. Why did you throw in the really 15? I briefly looked this up and all I found was some terminally online person digging through 100s of pictures to tie basically 0 evidence to her being slightly under 18, there's literally no evidence supporting it at all outside of a conspiracy theory. Why would you confidently post that someone committed a felony when you have no idea at all? Very weird behavoir.

I like bo, just hate that he feels the need to be so contrite and apologetic for jokes he did a decade ago that as far as I can tell he wasn’t getting backlash for.

Bo Burnham is a trailblazer of comedy that is not funny for an audience with no sense of humor.

@@pbelancsikThe problem is actually your comprehension. That point notwithstanding, a grammar based argument is not gonna make Bo Burnham funny. The fact you think you proved a point is funnier than anything Bo Burnham has ever said.

@@danielandrewgrant so if he’s not funny for an audience with no sense of humor, wouldn’t that make him funny by default? Go back and read your original comment.

It's so bizarre to hear gifted comedians like Bill Burr and Patrice O'Neal on his day talk positively about Dane Cook's material. That guy was unfunny as shit

I think there is some pity praise coming Dane Cook's direction lately because he has fallen back to earth but you know when he was getting all the big gigs and movies, comedians were calling him an unfunny hack (which is the truth) so hearing this now is sort of lame and two-faced but he did have a meteoric rise no doubt about that.

Dane absolutely had a moment where he was on an absolute tear, notice Bill is mostly speaking in the past tense. His first special came on like Gangbusters, just his schtick quickly became tiresome, and all the energy in the world couldn’t keep it going.
