its scary these days. I'm fortunate to know women with young men as sons and they are more sympathetic, one thing because women know women they understand each other generally and secondly they know the power of women over men. Outside of physical differences, women can hurt men emotionally and mentally as bad as any man can hurt a woman physically, So these women imagine their sons being falsely accused, because lets be honest, mothers mostly think best of their children, they need burden of proof to think otherwise. Well as mentioned, I know women who do not agree with "believe her" automatically and reasons mentioned above. And there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it.... justice and truth, what ever happened to that? Statistically yes false accusation is very low comparatively, this is not to be ignored. Even then, an individual is still owed a fair trial, if he or she is guilty then punishment is to be handed, due process. These days Social media have given people fake courage, voicing their opinion without thinking about it deeply because its easy to blurt out shallow assessments to other people. But funnily, face to face they tend to cower down. Today, in Social Media world, the most popular opinion is taken as gospel or truth.... facts aside. Now I've recently undertook some cognitive bias courses and it reinforced my previous knowledge of bias. People are BIASED because of the information given to them... this is one of the most common biases. And who controls the information? Media and corporations through media and internet. today its about appealing to the masses using the lowest amount of effort but the highest chance of effect... and that is through manipulation of people's inherent bias or "tendencies" to be biased. I wish people today, young people too, take a step back and read about cognitive bias and how the media and social media platform encourage spread of biased information to shape their opinion. Its a dangerous world, because bias make people overlook clarity and logic.... which are all vital parts of truth finding and justice... so basically, the low hanging fruit is "Trial by Media or popular opinion".... the high-effort path and thus is more likely resisted is the "Due process". Scary scary world

@Daniel-wz3yv4 жыл бұрын
When "Innocent until proven guilty" becomes "Guilty until proven innocent" you know there's something wrong with today's society, like a random woman could accuse me of harassing her and i'm sure 9 out of 10 people would side with her and judge me as a criminal before even understanding what's happening, that's how powerful women are these days and i fear for the next generation if women are given such powers over men.
@alfonsomendez97873 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It’s like a society of dumbs.
@pebblessyou3 жыл бұрын
Everyone was quiet for two simple reasons: there wasn't a joke or a punchline to react to, and Bill's rant came out of nowhere so a part of the audience didn't even know what he was talking about. For the first reason, what was the audience supposed to do? Laugh? At what? He didn't make a joke. Cheer? Yeah he for sure was really brave for saying "I think justice is good". There are no other ways for the audience to react. For the second reason, he had been talking about his childhood and tough parenting and suddenly says "I miss tougher parenting and evidence". From the context it's not clear what he means by "evidence". He then elaborates with a rant about how due process is a thing of the past (the only real controversial statement here) and something about social media being bad. It took a while for me to understand what he was talking about but by then he's made a comment about the audience being quiet. I like his other moments but this was like Bill's version of Jeb Bush's "Please clap" moment. The audience could only possibly react with a cheer and that would've been fine. In the case they didn't cheer, he'd call them out for being quiet and thus "disagreeing" with his obvious statement of "I like justice". Imagine a funny guest talking about some random topic and suddenly saying "I think people who work hard should be rewarded for their effort" in a serious tone. Would the audience not reacting indicate they think people shouldn't be rewarded? Or is that comedian just either being a jackass or trying to prove a point in a dishonest way? In short, evidence before judgement is normal and not controversial. Bill just framed it in such a way and you fell for it.

It is true that many things he says are accurate, but the part "women are overrated".... I can't help to feel a bit offended. I'm not saying that there aren't overrated women, because they probably exist, but in my personal experience, men usually don't tell you how brave you are for anything, but give less worth to basically anything you say for the mere fact of being a woman. I don't know how society in the US is, but I think what I get is the experience of most of women in the world
@aabb33405 жыл бұрын
@@hellosofia15 Here in the US at least half of the populace (and the vast majority of the media) buys into cultural Marxism, meaning that they see all social dynamics in terms of power relationships: Oppressor and oppressed. Abuser and victim. In this case, women are the oppressed and therefore they are to be favored by social action, and men are the oppressors and therefore they are to be disfavored by social action. It can be pretty innocuous, for example tons of little girls' shirts say "Girl power" and "Girls are awesome" etc. It can be a little worrying, e.g. that terrible Gillette ad that played up "toxic masculinity" and implied that all boys are future rapists. It can be borderline fascist, e.g. what happened to Bret Kavanaugh. So it's a problem.

@MTRredux Really? Let's say I accuse someone of murder, and the entire public instantly believes me because I accused them, with everyone openly stating they *are* a murderer, despite no actual evidence. It's the same with Kavanaugh. There is no due process or evidence, but everyone goes with it.
@SpaceDisco16 жыл бұрын
MTRredux Hey, I think Bill is not talking about that the legal system wants to abolish due process. He literally mentions social media, which I think he is completely right about. Basically the dynamic right now is: somebody gets accused of sexual assault and everybody instantly assumes that it is true. And while the majority of the sexual assault cases seem to actually be true, some of them are not. And the fact that many people on social media completely erased the benefit of doubt for alleged rapists is not a good development imo.

No one has ever claimed due process and evidence arent important. The problem is , men have gotten away with assault and harrasment of women with zero consequences, and then, also, discouraged them from even telling anyone because they are told they are somehow to blame for the actions of their abuser. How do you suggest this problem be solved, other than by women simply refusing to take that for granted any longer? I'd love to hear your ideas.

@d00d Feminist need to put more emphasis on fairness rather than equality. There's a difference. If a family sits down to have dinner and a grown man gets more food than an infant. That's not equal treatment, but it's fair treatment because it's fair to say a grown man needs more food than a baby. If I injected a woman with 10 times the testosterone, it would would fair to treat her differently based on the change in temperament, aggression, strength/athleticism etc. Unfortunately feminist have been told their entire childhood the best way to achieve fair treatment is to demand equal treatment in virtually all situations.
