One of the most underrated Japanese auteurs. Very idiosyncratic and provocative.

I've seen Branded to Kill once and it instantly became one of my favourites of all time.

I love Seijun Suzuki, Tokyo Drifter is one of my all time favourite films. If you think "Take Aim At The Police Van" is a crazy title, he has another film called "Detective Bureau 2-3, Go To Hell Bastards". But do yourself a favour and chase up Tokyo Drifter - or put the title in the youtube search bar now and watch the trailer, you'll be hooked.

Films look amazin. Wish Bill expounded on Suzuki's aesthetic like he had with Kubrick and Ridley Scott; but happy to be introduced to this filmmaker. Thanks for posting 👍.

Watch Youth of the Beast. It's probably his best film.

Watching him on SNL, you would never guessed he was a Tarantino level movie nerd.

I cannot believe this guy watched so many ambitious movies and then he makes something as boring as Barry.

I cannot believe Quentin Tarantino watched so many violent movies and then made something as passive as Pulp Fiction.

Shocking how an HBO series can’t take as many creative liberties as a B movie…
