I don't think it's a good idea to try and stay high or in the meditative state...I can't drive in either condition, the dishes don't get done, the litter box stays full,,,the cat doesn't get fed. the journey between the state of high consciousness and day to day comprehension is (I think) the content of a man's life. I also suggest that it is neither the road, nor the destination that matter as much as the friends we choose to travel with that make life special.

They are playing the greatest game one has to embark on: the spiritual journey. All the surrogate activities you described are the meaningless BS of a layperson's life. And Monks have a very difficult life with a crazy amount of rules to follow. I'm sure the monk who is sweeping the floor of the ashram is doing it in a very calm and collected way. I believe that we are meant to play all of life's games that we enjoy. We will never stop playing new games when we realize it's more fun the previous ones we were once obsessed with.

Imo (which fuck my opinion, n fuck yours too) whether we’re sober or under the influence of mind expanding drugs the moment we perceive to have all the answers is the moment we’ve never been more ignorant. The Second we think we “got it” is the moment we lose it. This journey and experience of consciousness has no beginning and no end. Our universe is infinitely expanding and our consciousness is our universe experiencing itself, also infinitely expanding. The only answers are more questions. accepting that we, all of us, just don’t know and that all we know is that we know nothing at all is the moment we unshackle the chains of our conditioning and emerge from the cave. At this point it’s up to us to choose as individuals whether we choose to start the journey to find a space we feel at home.. some will choose to settle down in the cave, after all it’s all we’ve ever known… some will find a space along the way… others will choose to continue to walk indefinitely… no choice is any better or worse than the others. It just is and will always be. Where am I? Here. What time is it. Now.

Many animals eat mushrooms though. It helps Jaguars hunt I've read. But this wouldnt be a theory, it would just be a hypothesis at this point as it lacks a lot of evidence. But it's a really cool hypothesis to ponder. And honestly, even if we did find this to be true, I think the "powers that be" would keep this under wraps if they had it their way. Too many people reaching a new level of consciousness at the same time might expose our system for what it really is: a big ol' silly game of monopoly.

Nah the theory is that the evolution of the human brain is scientifically unexplainable and one plausible factor is the consumption of psilocybe cubensis found in the dung of the animals we hunted as we left the jungles of Africa had an effect on things like language, goals, thinking, and as science today has proven the mushrooms actually create new neural pathways, they erase boundaries of what you believe is right which is a driving force for braking patterns of thought and acting in a new way, this is what happened in the hippie boom and counterculture movements, imagine the same effect massconsumtpion of a psychedelic under the course of say a 100 000 years, it's to me very plausible
