It is not chemically addictive and there have been virtually zero cases of death related to its use. Yet, it was made illegal and listed as a Schedule I drug, which is the category of drugs deemed most dangerous by the federal government. Let me repeat that. Marijuana is (or in some states, was) was put into the same class (Schedule I) with drugs like heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine/crack, and PCP. Just let that sink in for a moment. However, when drugs like tamoxifen (used to treat breast cancer) and pioglitazone (a type 2 diabetes medication), were found to increase the risk of uterine cancer and bladder cancer respectively, the FDA's response was to simply tell the manufacturers to slap a "black box warning" on it so people will know. To put that into perspective, Marijuana, a substance with virtually zero recreational risks compared to alcohol, and has actually been proven to be medically beneficial for cancer patients, is illegal and classified the same as heroin or meth. While prescribed drugs intended to treat cancer, but also increase the risk of cancer, and are 100% legal. Along with alcohol; which kills over 95,000 people a year in the U.S. alone. Something is really, really wrong with this picture, and on more than one level.

If you think about it, it does make perfect sense. Every civilization has its plant that entices enlightenment. I was thinking about this years ago, while watching a documentary about mushrooms. O_O Lets just say my thinking didn't sat too well with the other teachers and I was passed off to work at another school. ... they weren't too kin on my beliefs either, but at least they were kind enough to let me work for them. I feel bad for kids, being robbed of their thinking abilities and having their imaginations destroyed by corporate standardized exams. I want to incorporate curriculum programs that were once only reserved for Special Ed students to the whole school... teach high school kids how to survive in this world and be self sufficient, where you need to find a job, be a wage slave and manage a house.... stuff that is practical and relevant to ones existence of this miserable society. Teach them essential life skills like organizing routine, prepare meals, doing laundry, create a budget plan to pay the bills. conducting at a job interview, how to set up a bank account and maintaining it without losing your shit. Naaa... that isn't important... what is important is recalling shit that doesn't put food on the table, because the school grade depends on it.
