@Mad Dog Fifii think if anyone believes that strongmen arent on alot of gear is naive in general! I know kaz took stuff, i took stuff, they all took stuff! The point is just taking huge amounts of steroids doesnt guarantee you to be the strongest, many many factors in play.

Mariusz wasn't the strongest, but he doesn't get nearly enough credit. Nobody can do what he did with his level of body fat/conditioning which to me is extremely impressive knowing how hard it is to do that.
@Nastgardaren

Steven Kane his reign started in a time when WSM was more about speed and athleticism than now. And his titles in 2005-2008 were won when Z and virastyuk was in IFSA.
@TheBeastKane
@TheBeastKane 6 жыл бұрын
I know when his reign was pal which apparently you don't and i just said he wasn't as strong as these guys but thats because he wasn't fat or nearly the same weight as these guys. Your also wrong about Z, they were competing against each other since he won his first WSM, So obviously you haven't followed the sport very long or you'd know this. He won his first in 2002, Z came in second.... same with 2003. Mariusz is a 5 time WSM and he did it fuckin shredded. Also a fun fact in 2009, he beat Brian Shaw and lost to Z. He could have been a 7 time WSM, he was that good. It's a different era now and i have no doubt he would have adapted to it.
@dirkadirka5395
@dirkadirka5395 6 жыл бұрын
Not just that but then the guy retires from strongman and gets into mma and does pretty good too. He beat a few big names. Mariusz was stronger than Kaz by a mile in many events. Jon Pal was also pound for pound the best at his time. Big Z is my top guy but I think it's now going to be the time for Thor as he has finally put on more core weight and is much younger than Shaw. Can you imagine the Juice these guys are poking? Wow.

The guy who sets the most records, the guy who was the strongest for his size, the guy who would have been the strongest ever if he'd been around at the right time. I think all these deserve the same amount of credit. One paved the way, one pushed the limits, one proved what the human species was capable of.

Can understand it to a degree. Guy won 3 titles, then got banned from the sport he loved for years for no reason at all then being too dominant. And of course when you are obsessed with and the greatest at something, your time is up, and you can no longer do what you love, it tends to make one bitter. Doesn’t excuse it entirely of course, but I can understand where he’s coming from.

Jon Pall was much weaker in all static lifts. He also was a powerlifter. But never compared close to what Kazmaier has done in the same era. He was a great athletic strongman yes, but he's not in the realm of strongest of all time. Kazmaier was definitely stronger. Kaz would have gotten much more than 3 WSM titles if he would have been allowed to compete.

Yozkopf Bill’s best lifts were 300 kg, 402 kg, 420 kg (bench/deadlift/squat), JPS’s were 235 kg, 365 kg, 370 kg (bench/deadlift/squat)... so yes Bill was stronger, but JPS was insanely strong as well... and has Kaz beat in the athletic department by far.

Kaz was super strong. These guys now are bigger and they don't specialize in bench press or specific lifts (unless they're going or a record), and they are limber and athletic. Think about that, guys 6'8" 420-440 and limber and athletic. When it comes to moving big things around and lifting big things (that aren't just shaped like weights), they're a cut above the guys in the 80s. The guys in the 70s and 80s, and then after that, though, paved the way to make it big enough money that guys like shaw and hafthor could create a personal brand for themselves and make money.

Kaz could likely win or be top two in a ALL TIME STRONG MAN competition(if magically one would happen) Big Z would most likely win the whole thing if he was more mobile and athletic. But Kaz's combo of RAW POWER and athleticism likely make him the GOAT. Pudzianowski was really strong, but more so he was super fast, we would do well, but probably lose in most events to Kaz. Brian, and Thor too would likely finish very high too. Would be AMAZING to see them all compete against each other in their primes. Only in dreams.........

Yes he was banned they (World's Strongest Man) felt if one man dominated for year's the public would get bored think conspiracy doesn't happen in Strongman? think again! O.D Wilson was about to win WSM and they changed the last event to basically a cardio event which J.P won what a joke! WSM also tailor made the events for Eddie Hall to win back in 2017 it was "time" for another English Strongman to finally win and they knew exactly how to do it (make the competition a "static" event) I sometimes wonder if it's a popularity competition. As for Kaz they did have lifting suits back then but they were new (as were knee wraps) Bill benched 300 kg raw the squat suits were a joke back then so were the knee wraps.

It's difficult to measure over time the Strongest Man in the World. You have your peak years, so they come and go. The Strong Men today weigh much more and are taller with modern training methods and supplements, including Drugs legal and Illegal. Anderson and Hepburn if they were at their peak today with today's modern training and supplements would be untouchable.

@@littlethuggie yes, we are older guys now, so we let some of our stories out a bit more freely now that we are not living them so much, like in 2nd Hand Lions. He did a ton of things that had never been done before, but if you met him in person, you could see what a great guy he is if you are a good guy.

He gets a lot of props from the new guys, but he does have an unfortunate penchant for telling woulda, coulda, shoulda stories. Like 'I could've had an 800lb raw bench if I was a bench specialist' - Don Reinhoudt could've had a 1100 lb raw squat if he was a squat specialist. It doesn't add to the sport by making claims like that - which are not even true by any reasonable standard.

Deep respect for Bill, but at the time of this interview, as a fellow athlete in his 60’s, I think his breathing looks rather labored, he looks very stiff, and his health looks generally poor. The years of heavy lifting have taken a great toll.

Most of his records have been expunged since he had no witnesses for the lifts other than himself and his uncle. His famous back lift was also removed since he had no evidence to support it. Dude was still probably the strongest guy of his time but he also stretched the truth a bit.

@@mikesbbody Pudzian was dominant in WSM while Savickas was with the IFSA, and couldn't compete in the WSM. what could they both compete in at the same time? Nice....but when one weighs in at over 300#....of course they can do what they do. Size equates to mass, which equates for larger, bigger, more muscles to recruit and do more work. Size is everything in "strong man competition"....When someone hits 6'-5" and weighs in at 400# with 15% body fat...they will be the strongest, etc. Who cares? Does this get one into Heaven? What does....?? Ohhhhhhhwwww...It's Jesus Christ. Now this......is impressive!!!!
