I think Laimbeer is a little bit underrated. Had a rebounding title, made 4 All Star teams and was a good 3-point shooter, very rare for a center at that time. You don't have to like him and I'm not saying he's an all-time great player here but when you add the back-to-back titles to that resume you get somebody who's at the very least objectively a total overachiever as a 3rd round draft pick. He should be known for more than the physicality and "Bad Boy" image, as should that team in general for that matter.

I have watched MJ play. And when comparing the two, I will state that I feel that MJ is a better overall all time great. At the same time, LeBron's career is not done yet. But in all honesty, what LeBron has accomplished has been amazing too! I don't have any problems if fans favor LBJ over MJ. Some people see things differently - and I would hope objectively. Overall, I will not deny that LeBron without a doubt is today's best player - there is no doubt about that! LeBron's legacy is already set especially after he carried Cleveland to a championship over a 73 win Warrior's team. As soon as LBJ loses, critics will pile on him. I know it. I just won't be one of those guys. I used to criticize LeBron. But after LeBron helped lead Cleveland to two straight final appearances after returning back to Cleveland, I simply can't do that anymore. It takes extremely hard work for any team to reach the finals alone. I have never bashed losing teams that reach the finals. And I won't start now. Dr. J is one other player I can think of that helped elevate his teams on reaching the finals back in the day. And I remembered how disgusting critics were against Erving. Like LBJ, Dr. J was a great player!! A lot of people simply can't open there eyes and understand that only because he played basketball in his prime way back in the 1970s and early 1980s. Wilt is another player I can think of too that was always criticized only because Russell helped the Celtics win 11 rings.

You guys act like saying Jordan isn't the best is a sin against God. The shits really sad actually. To Laimbeer's point Jordan was ass before 1991, hell before he got Scottie Pippen even. He would not have had a snowballs chance in hell of taking a team full of unwanted pieces to the Finals, more less a chance to legitimately win it all. That is a plain and simple fact. As far as Finals records are concerned Larry didn't win em all and neither did Magic so LeBron aint shit because he's not perfect on the grandest stage of them all? Get fucking bent! Jordan might have lost 2 if he stepped on the court with Clutch City, not to mention the fact that when he was playing at the top of his game, he never really had a rival Larry had Magic Isaiah had Larry and Magic; who the hell was Jordan really playing against and lost to in the playoffs?....don't worry I'll wait......
@johnbishop83649 жыл бұрын
Finals record mean absolutely nothing, Jordan's TEAMS were way better every single time. Jordan shot 43%, avg 4 rebounds and 2 .. TWO, assists in the 98 finals and won in 6, he avg 27 from throwing up shots, 6 boards/4 assists in the 96 finals. Was that his "will" getting It done? Nope his team was better than the weak 90's competition. Would shootin bricks vs no names, rookies and white unathletic defenders, getting no boards, doing no playmaking, playing avg defense at best ... Would that get you a ring in 6 now? No, you'd get swept by 25 point margins.
@ryanneil52499 жыл бұрын
William Hamlett I mean I feel like those 90's teams aren't as fondly remembered not because they were any worse than the teams in the 80's... but rather just because Jordan controlled all the rings so there was no room for any other great dynasty. There was no Bird vs. Magic rivalry in the 90's because Jordan would win every time. If that makes sense. Not hatin, up for debate.

In Lebron's 10 playoff runs he has eliminated 8 teams with 50 wins or more, 2 of those teams had 60 or more wins. In Jordan's 12 playoff runs he eliminated 19 teams with 50 wins or more, 7 of them with 60 wins or more. Between 86-90 two teams that eliminated Jordan from the playoffs. The first were the 86 and 87 Boston Celtics who many call the greatest team in the history of basketball. Their roster consisted of the greatest front court ever with Bird, McHale, Parish all in the HOF and with Danny Ainge and Dennis Johnson (HOF) in the backcourt and Bill Walton (HOF) coming off the bench. The second team is the 88, 89, and 90 Detroit Pistons with probably the 3rd greatest starting 5 in the history of basketball consisting of Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Mark Aguirre, John Salley, and Bill Laimbeer with Dennis Rodman coming off the bench. When laimbeer says the bulls "needed to assemble some great teammates around him (jordan) to win" that's demonstrably false. The first three-peat featured two great Bulls players 1. Jordan 2. Pippen the rest of the team was competent but FAR from great. For the other 3 starters: Grant was a really good defender and a good rebounder with limited offensive skills (made all of 1 all star game his entire career), Cartwright (1 all star game literally 10 years before becoming a bull) was much better as a knick and wasn't great in his limited role, paxson (0 all star games) was a nice shooter and otherwise limited. So much for great teammateS. To compare, the late 80s Pistons championship teams had (i shit you not) 5 multi time all-star players (thomas, dumars, laimbeer, rodman, aguire) including 3 hall of famers with a hall of famer coming off the bench (rodman). As well, they had Vinnie johnson possibly the best heat check player of all time (the team was so good he didn't even start for them), they were also deep also having salley, mahorn, and edwards who were all good at their job. The pistons were also obviously the kings of dirty basketball, (pippen was probably more affected by this than jordan tbh). 80s pistons were absolutely absurd as a team. and jordan was always vastly undermanned against them.
@JCT19267 жыл бұрын
When the bulls finally broke through and beat the pistons 4-0 they swept them in spite of the pistons still having 4 all star caliber players (rodman, thomas, aguire, dumars) all of whom were under the age of 31 (aguire). Again, the bulls at this time had 2 all stars arguably 3 if you include grant (who would make his only all star team about 4 years later). Further, the year before which was the pistons second championship year the Bulls took them to 7! What happened in game 7? Scottie had the migraine game and scored 2 friggin' points, Grant went 3-17, and the bulls lost. Further, the Bulls were the Pistons greatest challenge by far that year. Oh ya, the year before when the Pistons beat the bulls in 6, Scottie was literally taken out of the deciding game, because Bill Laimbeer (literally) knocked him out with an elbow in the first quarter...
@mikehammer17775 жыл бұрын
And yet, MJ and the undermanned Bulls swept the Pistons disgracefully, and Laimbeer has the nerve to air-brush history.....To your point, the Pistons were bonkers as a team and MJ and the Bulls consistently pushed them to 7 games until they broke the seal in '91 as soon as Pippen and Grant developed some mental toughness......John Salley gave a real explanation on Vlad TV on how in '91 their bully antics weren't on the Bulls and they were stuck staring at headlights approaching them.....Laimbeer and the Pistons are a bunch of petulant, entitled malcontents who didn't think they could be beaten...it's watching Adrian Broner after any of his losses, so delusional and tactless towards the fighter who literally just beat him...pathetic

Make him into a jump shooter and he's in trouble. There's a reason why he surrounds himself with shooters bc he needs a bail out. Unless he called up some of his superstar buddies to help, then maybe he might win more.

***** Where did this myth come from that Bron chokes under pressure? And LeBron has shooters to space the floor, that's not a fault that's just smart.
@eazyduzit-tr3nx9 жыл бұрын
Chris McBride Myth? Man it's well known that he tends to fold up when it counts late in the season. He did it in the '07 & '11 finals even against Boston in 2010. He gets very passive and not aggressive at those times. I mean yea it's smart on his part bc if he can't hit those jumpers someone will.
@nickr48379 жыл бұрын
i think he's overrating lebron's strength a bit...yes he's massive but he's not stronger than even Kobe. Ive seen that match up numerous times and Kobe never had trouble as far as strength goes. Carmelo is stronger physically he'd push Kobe around even though he looks flabby...looks can be deceiving!

People are confused and mostly make criticism based on biasness. Lebron and Jordan are totally different beasts. Jordan is the best one on one player, Lebron is the best on making his teammates better. What lebron lacked in scoring skills is equals to what Jordan also lacks in making his teammates better, that's not to say they aren't good at those things, because, Lebron can score good too and Jordan makes team mate better too, but, I'm talking about there greatest asset in the game so don't be confuse again. If Lebron had Pippen which is widely considered as the greatest perimeter defender of all time, pippen would not only be defending great at all times which is his greatest asset, but, would also be a scoring machine if Lebron is right beside him, that's beyond dispute and that would happen without the shadow of a doubt. And Rodman, goodness, if lebron can make mosgov and thompson great at what they are doing now, imagine what rodman could be if Lebron is beside him. He could be the best and most feared rebounder of his era, simply because Lebron can him appear more than he is capable of. Lebron can simply make everyone better, including your grandma too that's his greatest asset.

Sleepless Revolution very true. It wasn't until Phil Jackson came in and showed MJ how to use his teammates better that they started winning rings. LeBron had that "teammate sense" right from Day 1.
@mikehammer17775 жыл бұрын
Its funny how you guy say MJ is the best 1 v1 player in a team sport...how juxtaposed is your rationale? Meanwhile...the best 1 v1 player has twice the amounts of rings Lebron has in 3 fewer appearances in the finals, a defensive player of the year award to Lebron's none, 9-time First team All NBA defense to LeBron's 5 times, and 5 MVPs to Lebron's 4, led the league in steals 3 years to Lebron's none, 3 consecutive season with over 100 blocks and 200 steals to Lebron's none, but...somehow "MJ was only a damn scorer".....you guys kill me

You can tell this dude hates michael talking about rebounds and passing jordan averaged 32 8 8 one year and then he said something about lebron teammates he didn't start winning till he was playing with d.wade and bosh now he's got kyrie Jr smith Iman shipment aren't that bad Tristan thompson one of the best rebounder in the league to go with Timothy mozgof as a rim protecter everyone needs good teammates to win jordan shut down the best player just like lebron Jordans got a defensive player of the year award lebron has none only differences between the two is lebron is bigger and Michael is undefeated in the finals untouched San Antonio just got done whooping on this guy's team last year stop it just stop it

Laimbeer and Isaiah will always have a Jordan bias. They were the two who suggested their teammates walk off the court upon realizing they were defeated. They specifically never give MJ credit. But it doesn't matter...history records champions #6riings #Pistonsswept.....

Laimbeer is a legend but he wouldn't make it in today's NBA because he'd get thrown out of every game. "No question," LBJ over MJ! Really? Not just LBJ but "no question??" Holding a grudge, Bill? Bill would lose his close friendship with I. Thomas if he answered the question any other way.

I'm sorry , I can't help it... I STILL hate that this man draws breath. Any 1 playing in any sport , where the word sportsmanship came from , whose came plan was to maim you , should not be allowed near people in general , let alone be in ANY kind of authoritative position. He has proven time & time again , that he can't be trusted. I can fully understand a reason show others how tough you think you may be for intimidation purposes but coming into a game & waiting for some1 to jump up , so you can throw your foot under them to purposely try to hurt them is simply militant. A "basketball" war is not life & death. He could have permanently hurt some1 , or put them in a wheel-chair. Here is a man , brought up in privilege. He was taller than his friends & grew up a bully. Show off with TALENT!! ... O wait, NOW i see why you played that way.

Overall player I rate LeBron James a better player. However if the game on the line and you need a player to take and hit the winning shot it definitely be Michael Jordan. However sometimes maybe it better to compare LeBron James with Larry Bird and not Michael Jordan. Both those mainly small forwards. LeBron did well to take Cavs to finals but it was a very weak eastern conference. Only the Bulls only other highly competitive team.

The bad boys and EASILY the 86 Celtics would DESTROY the bulls of ANY year. Back them, teams would not allow one person to dominate, well except for Bird, no one could stop him, not even two or three. Bird could have been drafted by the worst NBA team Win/Lose % wise (and he did, the cetlics were absolutely HORRIBLE when u was drafted.)and taken them DEEP into the playoff. Seth Curry could not have been a superstar in the 80's. He's too soft. Teams would have bullied him. Try bullying Bird

That would be a great series to see how Curry would have held up. Isiah and Dumars hounding him for seven games and The Pistons where smart as well as gritty. Curry would have had to guard Thomas or Dumars and they would have made him work on D as well. I wonder how well he would hold up psychically in a series against those Piston Teams?
