Thank you Stephen, for having an actual folk singer on! They are nearly invisible and extinct in the music offerings of the masses these days.

I’m 57 and have grown up my entire life with his songs. I told him this in Dublin and he replied “then we grew up together”. Love the man.

Of course it would be the class act, Colbert, that brings us one of the true greats in American music, Loudon Wainwright III. Been watching him perform since the mid '70s. Loved his recent book, "Liner Notes".

This song is from his Therapy album (one of my favorite tracks from it). And the other song "Father and Son" that he did on Colbert, was from his History album. These two albums, plus "More Love Songs" (the one before Therapy) got constant airplay from me through the early to mid 80s. And so seeing him perform these two songs is just an awesome gift to me and the world. I still go back and listen to Therapy everyone once in a while. Absolute genius songwriter! Thank you Loudon!!

Discovered this gentleman way back in 74, when DEAD SKUNK was on the radio. Did not know for a long time how good, how excellent of a songwriter and singer Loudon was and is. So glad that he is still with us, still writing beautiful and powerful new songs, and WOW! his voice is still strong at 77!

Been a fan since the early 70s and saw him live in England in the 80s and 90s. Made the mistake once of going for a beer or two before the show and trying to sneak out mid-performance to take a leak. He stopped half way through a song and shouted if I was leaving early not to forget to buy an LP in the foyer on the way out!

I was very impressed by the 1st time I heard this Song - it was on a West Virginia Radio Show (Mountain Stage) compilation w/a Rick Danko Song (which was enough for me to spend some). This may be his own best - not unlike Solar Sex Panel for John Hiatt (& done by Little Village). Very crafty way of making words feel 'natural' & meant to be in that order. That makes sense, right?
