I have learned over the years that I have some friends to whom I cannot have a conversation about issues unless I agree with their narrow paradigms, then there's the friends who don't follow any news or much less care what's going on-for those friends we discuss recipes or gardening, then there's the friends who are combative right fighters, then there's the ones dearest to my heart who have a wide paradigm and are willing to have an intelligent insightful conversation and are willing to remain friends even though our views may differ but can learn from each other. The lessons learned is to know what conversations to have and with whom. I love your podcasts Chris you fall in the last category

We need a balm for this country to soothe the political pain and rhetoric. I think this is exactly what we need today. I think that Chris contributes to this healing in his own way by educating the populous and interviewing those who are subject matter experts. Richardson contributed to this cause today during this interview by addressing the caustic ways of partisanship and the need for civil discourse. This is a prime example of such dialogue. Politics used to be referred to as a gentlemen's sport. We need return to that philosophy and practice. This is what is noted here.

A real journalist as you are Chris, is curious by nature. He/She would interview whoever to get something new. That is the rol of real journalism. If we think in two parties, media divided in two, our minds will stretch that we will end up leaving in a theatre. In the end this two parties are one big family but in front of you they will pretend to Be opposites, because they WIN doing so. A real journalist speaks with right, left , middle. Get rid of the political parties, PACs, etc. and I truly believe we, as a country & people, would fair much better. Everything you said about being open to understand where ppl are coming from, how, what & why they think they way they do challenges us to lsearch ourselves to know how, what & why we think the way we do. Life is filled with uniquely different ppl in every aspect; yet, we can all learn something from each other and take what we learn while respecting their views even when they differ from ours to be better, do better, become better by making decisions based on the truth: the real facts NOT our feelings that are fickle, funny & changing based on our emotions, situations and/or circumstances. @chriscuomo I thought this interview hit the nail right on the head when it comes to perception and how folks are not identifying with the Democratic Party. My husband and I when we both met where registered Democrats. He now does not identify with their messaging like your friends and is thinking about voting Republican down the ticket. Although he thinks that Trump is a psychopath. I on the other hand don’t identify with either. Agree that the wins the Dems have are not communicated effectively. Horribly in fact. I have to say that I was of the mindset that if Biden runs again I did not think he should. But after listening to Bill Richardson it certainly gave me pause and I have to agree with what he said on that point. Appreciate your bringing forth the dialogue so that we can open our minds to other ideas. Continue the conversation. Thanks for making it happen!
