BILL SHANKLY Football Interview 'Football - More Important Than Life & Death' 1976 1612pm 12.6.24 "it's more important than that" is the eternal mantra of fan who wanders from pillar to post watching any game they please. as opposed to taking the infantile and restricting tribal lines...

I`m a Walsall supporter, but was well aware of Bill Shankly and his Liverpool side, as a young boy. I always admired the approach to football, Liverpool`s Boot Room, the sweatbox used by the players in training. That vibrance and vigour has carried on right through to Arne Slot of the present day. A model club above all others.

I find it sad that this kind of mentality will never be within the game anymore.... Of course, times do change, but as a person who was born in the 90's, I find it extremely inspiring, chilling to listen to the enthusiasm, the passion and the will, not only Shankly, but a lot of players and managers then, had in them. This is when you do realise the HUGE difference! between todays football, and the one in Shanklys time... I wish, that football nowdays was just a game.... Now, it is unfortunately, mainly business :( Respect to this man. Great drive and attitude he had. From a Chelsea Fan

What a wonderful man .. person .. role model. Not an ounce of maliciousness. A twinkle in his eye, a smile on his lips, as honest and genuine and humorous a being as you could ever love to be associated with. God bless you Mr Shankly, rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon you.

One of the greats of anytime. I wished he’d managed my football club as he speaks and thinks as a real leader, not one of these so called managers who jump from club to club delivering mediocrity. He would have loved to work with some of the young talent in this country and they would have benefited from each other. Shankly is a legend.

Your team was loosing 2 0 and with 5 minutes to go they score their 3rd making it 3 2 that feeling can't be got anywhere but the bit of terracing your standing on. Or so it used to be back then. It's all changed now. Season tickets. Club shops full of stuff. Credit card football.
