Okay, I’m getting increasingly impatient for the Year-End lists to be announced. The tracking year ended six weeks ago now. I seriously hope Billboard don’t hold off on revealing them until after the BBMAs again but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did… 🤦

For as stunned as I am that Stromae finally got his first Hot 100 entry, he definitely has much better songs than this. I really wish ‘Alors On Danse’ and ‘Papaoutai’ were able to cross over back in the day. Both were massive hits all over Europe in the early 2010s!

When it comes to one of the two, I personally haven't seen Wicked yet. But instead, the closest to a Wizard of Oz movie I watched last month was Robot Dreams, and it lived up to the hype. I had a good weekend thanks to that movie and the new Helluva Boss episode. Yes, I'm one of those people. Though that day in February did show that people here are on the "like it" side with Vivziepop's work. I also watched Transformers One last month. I'll get to the last of the Animated Movies About Robots from the Last Year I Heard Great Things About trilogy eventually. People weren't kidding when they said that movie will cause things to happen to your heart when you hear September. Realizing why that movie was called "Robot Dreams" was like Joey from Friends' eyes widening meme. Was I supposed to be talking about something else?

I haven't seen, but I do plan to soon because I watched every new music-related moviw with a great reception. There's also Music By John Williams. I heard damn good things about that before warching it, and yeah, it's really good. When is Sing Sing coming to Max so I can watch it? Man, four music-related movie potentially getting Best Picture nominations. What a year. Even if one of them is gonna have discourses about how it was undeserved. To any k-pop fans reading this, this is your friendly reminder that the two biggest acts from JYP Ent. are releasing new music this month. And as excited as I am for the new Stray Kids album coming out next Friday, I think I'm more intrigued by that TWICE album, which is releasing this Friday. Its title track has a Megan Thee Stallion feature, and I'm really curious how that's gonna play out. I don't know if it's an automatic chance it'll enter the Hot 100 for that, 'cause think of this: TWICE only had two songs enter the chart, and both of them were in English. Maybe 'Strategy' might end up in the Bubbling Under chart, like with 'Talk that Talk' and 'SET ME FREE', which peaked at numbers 16 and 7 respectively. What do you think?

1) After *19* non-consecutive weeks, the record-tying "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" by Shaboozey has likely ended its run at #1! The holiday songs are already rising on the charts after all. The moment that Kendrick Lamar's "squabble up" ends its brief run at #1, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" will be racing to the top like they always do. 🤓 2) I knew that Kendrick Lamar was getting an album bomb but I wasn't expecting the "Wicked" movie soundtrack to get an album bomb. I *should've* expected it! It's just that the soundtrack lost some momentum the moment that Kendrick Lamar dropped his newest album. When was the last time there were *two* album bombs in the same week? 🤔

I once found a Razzies prediction list that talked about upcoming movies that could be potential nominees. One of those list entries was a pairing of Wicked, the Beetlejuice sequel, and the Borderlands movie. The reason why they were all paired together by them is because they were all films that had a chance at either being disappointments or not. That aged interestingly for multiple reasons.

Somewhat unpopular opinion of mine. My feelings of GNX are a positive version of the "without any musical high points or even any substantial low points" line that Sean said about Certified Lover Boy. I don't think a single song on it went above "really good but not playlist worth" for me, but the songs on it rarely went below that level of quality to me. I think this was the final moment where I came to terms with how my standards have gotten higher over the years.

Billboard Bubbling Under Top 25: December 4, 2024 (Basically few other tracks from Wicked and very diverse new entries.) 1. Number One Girl by ROSE (New) (Given the competition this week, not surprised it barely missed the Hot 100, although we'll see if it picks up traction from her solo debut album dropping later this month.) 2. Gonna Love You by Parmalee (+11) (It's peaked in Nashville radio this week so expect a big falloff next week.) 3. Cowboy Songs by George Birge (+10) 4. Nadie by Tito Double P (New) 5. Regalo De Dios by Julion Alvarez (+5) 14. One Short Day by Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Kristen Chenworth, Idina Menzel ft. Michael McCorry Rose (New) 15. Bigger Houses by Dan + Shay (Re-Entry) 16. Headlock by Imogen Heap (New) (Given how Billboard never had many genre charts back in 2006, it makes sense that this deep cut has now been picking up some streaming traction. No guarantee if it actually crossover even if it would be interesting.) 21. Carry You Home by Alex Warren (+3) 22. Hecha Pa' Mi by Grupo Frontera (Re-Entry) 23. House Again by Hudson Westbrook (New) 24. Don't Mind If I Do by Riley Green ft. Ella Langley (Re-Entry) 25. Escapate by Tito Double P & Chino Pacas (-3) Apologies that this came out so late.

Love both these songs, they’re some of his best.) HM(Tie): Defying Gravity by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande & Ma Meillure Ennemie by Stromae and Pomme(Two fantastic collabs that work incredibly well in and outside the context of their media. I love the over the top theatricality of DG, and the low key yet gorgeous harmonies of MME. I have a few quibbles with Defying Gravity’s length and how it’s drawn out, but otherwise, great collabs. And Mark, watch Arcane, I think you’d enjoy it!) DHM: Hey Mrs. Johnson by Jack Harlow(Incredibly boring, just like…) WOTW: Gang Baby by NLE Choppa(I like the beat more than HMJ, but I hate that BLM line and the line where the white girl calls him a certain word. Ruins the vibe.) Fantastic week, enough that in most weeks there would be several songs that would take BOTW and HM handily(man in the garden, luther, Popular, Not That Girl). @Oble_Noceda ....What controversy? Is it because of the movie it came from I watched at 5:00 or 6:00 in morning on a plane after little sleep and isn't popular with people's KZbin recommende- (Realizes what you're referring to and becomes uncanny Mr. Incredible.) Oh yeah. Well, at least I have other goodies on my list like Such Great Heights by The Postal Service and What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club. And yet I'm still trying to figure out whether or not that ...Baby One More Time is better ot worse than Despicable Me 4's version of Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I saw somebody on that plane who was watching Madame Web. The thing about that cover is that much like Awkwafina Fox, it's an element from that movie where they tried to recreate something else. In its case, it wouldn't have existed if Peaches wasn't the biggest meme of 2023. Just like how that upcoming Jack Black and Danielle Brooks song from that Minecraft thing wouldn't exist without Peaches. And yet, I fell for the bait, and I didn't even feel bad about it until now.

@anamelessyoutuber1462 ...yeah even beyond that concert (my overall thoughts are going to be controversial and that's a rabbit hole I don't wanna fall into), jack black sold out HARD this year and also had a lot of pro Israel thoughts. Yeah, I'm only going to seek his and Tenacious D's previous work. Not gonna return to anything else they'll make later. I still love Peaches and their Britney cover though. Not gonna change that even with the controversy.

Here's something about that Wicked movie I'd like to talk about. I said before in one of Sean's polls that making those comments of every number one song and movie pairing of the year lead to me discovering a box office predictions list that also predicted the movies' Rotten Tomatoes scores. I bet that person thinks that site based their ratings on the movie's quality, when in reality, they measure how many people like a movie. Even with the bare minimum of positivity like 6/10. The prediction I talked about before was how they expected Joker 2's and Wild Robot's scores to be 2% apart. Another aged interestingly prediction is how along with guessing Joker 2's score would be 86%, they also thought Wicked's would be 55%. (Laughs like Woody.) I mean, again, assuming they think the worthless toddler website measures quality, I get why they didn't people to be fans of that movie considering not that great reception towards the trailers, bad other publicity, and the last two times Universal made a stage musical adaptation. This situation can still be something we laugh at in hindsight. Even before that movie ended up being the fourth most widely hated on movie of the year behind the Borderlands movie, that Megamind thing, an- y'all already know what the third movie is, predicting that Joker 2's score would be 86% is still silly because Joker 1's was 68%. I doubt that many people from the KZbin clickbait factory would warm up to it.

Speaking of bad publicity and bad trailers, here's another example of marketing fucking up a movie's reception and box office so badly: transformers one. ive only seen clips of the movie but they were enough for me to say it's the best tf movie since dark of the moon and bumblebee. yet the terrible marketing and trailers led everyone away from it only for them to realize it's soo good too late.

Top 5 Artists: 5. NWA (all because of Straight Outta Compton) 4. 1nonly (all because of Step Back!) 3. 21 Savage (Red Sky was my favorite song from him this year and honestly my favorite song to ever come from him, but Dangerous was also a streaming darling) 2. Future (the best songs he ever made are the best ones he made this year Ice Attack and Like That) But of course, the only thing that made more sense than the fact that 4 of my top 5 artists this year were rappers, is the fact that the one person who wasn't a rapper wound up being my favorite artist of all time. 1. Olivia Rodrigo (my favorite artist ever. 7 songs, the most out of any artist in my full wrapped, should say it all.)

Great work as always! I Think We Still Made It by The Astronomers: Another great Astronomers track, with great production, nice vocals, and enjoyable lyrics. Keep being awesome, guys! Mic Check by Sophie Hunter: A cool song, with interesting production, cool vocals, and good lyrics. Not bad. Good Morning by Pharrell Williams and Marley Bleu: A slick vibe, with nice production from Pharrell, great vocals from Marley, and nice lyrics. Really soothing. I do feel the movie version of wicked isn't really that great compared to the original Broadway play in 2003, but that's just me. Plus, knowing and watching someone go through the whole history of how that play came to be is more interesting than the movie as a whole. I don't hate it, but translating broadway plays to movies is a different ball game compared to broadway musicals.

This is the first time that Billboard chart date fell exactly on my birthday since I started watching in late 2020. And what’s better is TWICE making their major comeback a day before with their 14th EP and new single ‘Strategy’ (which I strongly recommend because the song is so good, the concept and vibes are really great, and Megan is featured, and she and TWICE slayed with their parts very well). I now prefer ‘Strategy’ over ‘ONE SPARK’ ever since my second listen to it, although the latter remains one of the best songs of 2024. In terms of the chart, we finally got more movements on top as ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ falls to #6 due to the Kendrick Lamar album bomb, and next week Mariah might hit #1. But I hope ‘Die with a Smile’ hits #1 soon and ‘Strategy’ debuts on the Hot 100 despite the Christmas rush.

BOTW (All Caps) (tie): Dodger Blue/TV Off - I could not choose between these 2 amazing songs which is better, so I gave them both a tie! Oh, and MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD HM: Squabble Up - Would've been even better if the trap percussion didn't sound so cheap. Great song though! DM: Ma Meilleure Ennemie - Maybe I'm missing something in the lyrics, but the whole song sounds really compressed, very distracting. Surprised this was in Arcane. WOTW: Gang Baby - Yeah, I think NLE Choppa lost me again. But at least we got at least ONE song from the Bubbling Under this week. Next week, the fallout of all this plus the holiday takeover, and this might give Bubbling Under songs a chance. If we do get something of a Juice WRLD album bomb, I will be pissed.

Top 10 Songs: 10. Hind's Hall by Macklemore (Justice for Palestine) 9. Invincible Shield by Judas Priest (someone said they had no business making a song this great this deep into their career while rocking in their 70s. As someone who can call this an all time favorite song, I definitely agree) 8. The Launch Gate by Cat Janice and Strange Weather (Rest easy, Cat) 7. Like That by Future, Metro and Kendrick (I prefer Ice Attack as a song but no complaints) 6. don't rely on other men by JPEGMAFIA (thank Mark of Spectrum Pulse for this one) 5. The Owl House Theme (yeah I'm an Owl House fan) 4. Ready for This by the Hazbin Hotel cast (this hit me hard, man...) 3. Can't Catch Me Now by Olivia Rodrigo (my favorite song of all time. I'm utterly stunned that this isn't in the Top 2 at least) 2. Straight Outta Compton by NWA (my favorite rap song of all time, and Eazy E's performance here is the greatest rap performance I've ever heard in my life. I thought that it would be this or CCMN for the #1...) And yet... 1. Step Back by 1nonly and SXMPRA (I think this was not as great a pick I would have preferred for the #1 as Straight Outta Compton or Can't Catch Me Now, but this is still an excellent rap song nonetheless so yeah there's only so much I can complain...)

Pissed off that Number One Girl didn't debut. Anyways... Best: Reincarnated (damn, Kendrick's spitting menacing and rageful fire here. With a great sample and a mad beat where his flows are like him spitting at his dad, whom he needed to rebel against even at the midst of the beef he currently has with Drake, his song sounds... like an angry oil slick XD ...yeah, he's definitely not sugarcoating this one, cupcake) HM: Dodger Blue (I like the groove of this one, and I am so excited for Roddy Rich returning) HM: Defying Gravity (I mean, it's a classic for a reason. The song is excellent and Cynthia does this version well and respectfully) HM: Ennemie (I dislike Stromae's rap part at the beginning but once he and Pomme sing together they strike gold together. Not as great as Come Play, The Line or Fantastic, though, but still...) HM: Hello Ms Johnson (so apparently this guy wants to be the new Laufey with this cafe style beat. He's nowhere near as good as that Goddess, pun intended btw, but I love his spin to her cafe style beat) Worst: What is this Feeling (Popular may be a bit generic and certainly not as good as the Weeknd Madonna collab of the same name, but at least it's still good, cute and listenable. I like it, and it's certainly better than this soulless generic tattling backwash, I can tell you that much. The bombast of the tracks on Wicked outside Defying Gravity may not be that good, but nowhere did it feel as hollow and shallow than in this song.)
