Definitely. I'm terrified whenever I'm surrounded by a lot of people. And I have to because Im in college. I have to brave the storm so to speak. I try to come across as tough and that nothing affects me. On the inside I'm scared that I'll mess up and someone will make fun of me, that I'll look stupid. I've been made fun of me whole life. I try to be myself, it's hard to so when a lot of people including my family try to tell me who I am. They've been drilling that into my head for so long that I start to believe all of these horrible things about myself. I'm working on it but, it's going to be a long process.

Ironically, the nervousness is what grounded the speech. It made it authentic. It's the same authenticity that allows so many people to latch on to her music as if it was written about them. And not just during my time as a teen in the 90's, but even those same teens today. It's timeless, its honest and its simply human.

It´s so funny to hear her talking about being labeled as "angry!" As a kid growing up in the 90´s that´s exactly how I would describe the rock/pop rock scene back then. I feel like all of us felt that way. There was so much anger and build up from frustrations that it poured into the musical scene . AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! It was all we needed. I feel like we were given an outlet. An inspiration. It all camew together. And all the male led bands did the same! So...Thank you Alanis.
