Mike Massey ran 13 racks on 2 different tables 6 on one and 7 on the other. Jack Hines ran 21 racks. Keith Mccready ran 22. he also has runs of 9-10 and 13 racks.Buddy Hall has run 15 racks. Wade Crane has run 15 racks and in tournament play has run 18 racks.9 racks in two separate matches.All of these runs were made without the magic rack. 9 on the spot Corey Deuel ran 11 racks against Mika Immonen 9 ball on the spot. The World record on a bar table. Diamond bar-box.was set in 2017. The record is 32 racks.some say its 33 its not.his opponent broke and scratched so he did not break and run the first rack and the magic rack was used.one ball on the spot.also he did not win the tournament.and he was double dipped in the finals.the tournament format was race to 11. Pat Lynch ran 17 racks on Bernie Schwartz in Pittsburgh around 1971-72. In a money game. I saw Greg Stevens give Pat Lynch the 6-7-8-9, took the break, and came up 20 games ahead in about 30 minutes. Break & run 8-10 racks; break & run 10-12 in Rockville Md. The next day in Silver Hill Md he gave Weenie Beenie 5-6-7-8-9, took the break, and was beating him to death (he had been up 2+ days playing everybody who would take that game) Beenie was sharp witted. He knew they would have to stop playing when Joe Balsis came to give an exhibition. So Stevens laid down on a bench during the exhibition. When he got back up, he couldn't make a ball....Beenie busted him! Stevens absolutely would break and run out 80-90% of the time; he was known to string 10's & 15"s routinely! and he ran around the table, break anf out in 1-1 1/2 minutes. it took longer to rack the balls, than him running out!

Running out after that BS break, where the corner ball goes in every time is no great feat whatsoever. I've been out of pool for 40 years, i don't understand what's going on here, but you must be racking the balls higherup...its all phony, and thinking something is great here, just isn't so. When I started watching all these old videos, proclaiming Reyes the GOAT, and saw his weak break in 9-ball, i knew he couldn't stand up to Willis, Lassiter, Worst, and Steven's consistence breaks! All that safety play only comes into play, if your getting the break, and if your constantly looking at 5-8 racks run against you, Efren would get weak at the knees like everyone else. Efren was the GOAT for a 25 year run. He probably would have been a top tier straight pool player, if he learned the correct way. 9-ball no way, his break was too weak. His best game was one pocket, it would have been interesting to see him play Worst, who was World Champion 3-cushion player for 14 years before he died at 36. If anything Efren taught the American players that they better learn the basic Diamond system.

His name is Abrin Shaad, he's called Hurricane Abe, his fargo is 749, and he won the US Amateur championship a couple years ago, he also won the APA Nationals in Vegas, and he is from Pekin Illinois, he did it at a pool hall called Racks on the Rocks in Peoria Illinois.

Earl's run was mathematically superior. Table difficulty aside (and this table was playing easy*), in a race to 120 a player has a tremendous number of chances to start a long run of break-and-runs, whereas Earl was playing a race to eleven, so the long run had to start at the beginning of the match and go straight through. A shorter race also allows less games to figure out the table, to find the break spot, and to determine the pocket speed. *In this match the table yielded an average of 1.6 balls made per break and 51% of the games were break and run games (121 of 235). The one ball that Orcullo makes at 8:20 would never have gone on a table that doesn't have buckets for pockets.

Earl made the nine ball 6 times on the break. He also had to run 11 racks,because the rules stated.after the first 5 racks the referee had to rack the other 5. and Earl broke and racked 6 racks. he did not know this.he got in the zone and thank you that nobody said anything.and ran the 11th rack.to make it 10 racks.
@justachristian40723 жыл бұрын
@@synthiabakers1753 I was there. He made the nine on the break 3 times and made three combos on the nine including the tenth game, after which the room exploded. So there was an extended break between the tenth and the eleventh rack. Also he racked his own balls for the first 7 racks so he only had 4 break and runs with the tournament director racking the balls, which could have been an excuse the insurance agency used to not pay. Also I believe the races were to 13 which gave the players a slightly more time to run the 10.

When players are at this level, it's more about getting rolls and having stamina in strength, nerves, and concentration, so it takes a longer race of at least 100 to determine the truly better player. Short races, to like 5 or 7, etc. is not a good determination of the best player because anything can happen over the course of just a few games.

I think there's way too many strong opinions in this comment section, lol. It's a great run, excellent play by Denis and a good upload. Just enjoy the damn video 😆 I also think it's tough to compare this to Earl's run because of the equipment differences: template rack (makes the break almost a science, no matter which ball is on the spot, whereas Earl was breaking a less predictable rack, so he had to wail em and hope something dropped), cloth (faster here), pocket size (Earl was probably playing on larger pockets), plus Earl's weren't all full table clearances (a few early 9s). Also I think Earl was only racing to 11, so he stopped when he won the match (I could be wrong about that).
@jamieduncan30663 жыл бұрын
Earl’s 11 in a row with a triangle rack is much more impressive than this with a magic rack and every ball in the same area after the break. 2 and 3 both one end rail, 5 ball next to the side pocket EVERY.....SINGLE.... Not to take away from the amazing shot making that just occurred here, the skill level is top notch. This is an example of pattern racking. He racks the two at the back every time. Dennis knows that unless the one sinks in the side or catches the side pocket horn it will run to the corner on his left. He also knows the two will run to the same area so he pulls the cue ball to that location which greatly enhances the chance of having a shot on the one or the two if the one goes in the side. The other piece of this puzzle is the ball that does go every time. It is that ball he is trying to make not the one ball. That ball is the wing ball to his right and it goes into the corner every time. The rest of the balls are generally random but these guys only need an open table start and they will run out almost every time. Dennis is racking and counting on the one and two to travel into the same corner and he puts the cue ball there each time. If he did not put the two at the back of the rack each time this would never have happened. In my opinion this is pattern racking. Again I am amazed by the skill level of both players but when you are racking any ball other then the one and nine for a desired outcome, this is pattern racking.

Old guy tells stories about him , says he bet a New York bookie 10 to 1 odds for a thousand a game if he didn’t run out 9 ball , 1000$ if he wins 10000 $ if he looses , don’t think he had to pocket a ball on the break not sure but no ball in hand after the break, the bookie quit after 45 !! He ran 45 racks straight!! They have him as number 8 on all time best hustler video , but he never played tournaments so he’s never been acknowledged by the pool community, he also made the nine ball 23 times in one game of nine ball !! Crazy

This was incredible to watch when it happened, however, racking with a magic rack makes all of these things a lot easier. Combined with the fact that we have better balls better equipment and everything. I'm just a regular old amateur, and racking with the nine on the spot using the cut break 85% of the time I can play shape on the one or the two. Unfortunately, I don't shoot as good as these two and I satisfy the European break rules no problem You need to hit the rack that hard to get the cue ball to make it to the rail and draw back out towards the middle of the table. So there's no magic there. Dennis is one of my favorite players to watch and this is the favorite matchup of this time in pool. I think they should simply go to 13 ball to change all of this up. Because in 13 balls you will definitely make a ball on a break, however there will be more clusters and more obstacles. The reason why Dennis won't play Shane and 10 ball is because he knows there's more randomness in 10 ball than 9 ball and Shane break is better there That's a decided advantage where as a 9 ball with this template rack in this setup Dennis has a better chance because overall he's a better shotmaker anposition player than Shane, (Filipino rotation AKA 61) I'm splitting hairs here though... it's by a small amount maybe a percent and a half. So Dennis, being a smart gambler. Switch to 9 ball because that takes away Shane's decided advantage of breaking and he can control more of the game. So out of 7 or 8 long races they have played Debbie has won the last two so I think he would try to stick with 9 ball and Shane will keep playing 9 ball with him until he beats him. So with that in mind, get ready for round 3 in about 60 days. Dennis is going to try to get his money back from Skyler now.

@creedolala69182 жыл бұрын
@@gianttunafisher @GetMeThere1 late reply but, the wing ball absolutely goes every time with a consistent frozen rack. Yes, it can also go with a strategic gap, which some players resort to, if freezing the balls is too hard. But a template makes freezing them easy. Watch Joe Tucker's videos. This has been common knowledge for 20+ years.

After watching this, It reaffirms my belief that template racks have no place in pool. Knowing that you can place the 2 at the back of the rack and knowing the rack is perfect every time just makes the game too easy at the pro level. You don't have to break hard, you can control both the one and the two. Pool was quite a bit more entertaining 15 years ago. The pros HAD to break HARD. The break was never predictable. It brought out the absolute best in shooters. Watching this, knowing you can break relatively soft, knowing that if any ball goes in you have a good shot on the one or the two (assuming the one drops) seems to make things way to easy.
@bassinbilliards62793 жыл бұрын
There's nothing easy about a race to 120 and running 11 racks.
@derekbatchelor40633 жыл бұрын
@@bassinbilliards6279 No, there may not be. That being said, by using a template rack and being able to place the 2 ball at the bottom of the rack leads to a predictable opening shot, as well as an extreme likely hood of a wide open layout and being able to all but guarantee a ball of the break....all the while being able to break soft to control the cue ball. That's where the problem lays. Watching this 'new' brand of pool is actually quite boring compared to 15 years ago, where players had to break hard to ensure balls get potted off the break. Nothing was a given back in the early 2000's and before. I dare say that the top players of that era were superior shooters in every way as compared to today.

No pro or amateur can disagree the immensity of difficulty that playing and running out a 10 pack for 1 million in a race 11 tournament format is in the same class.
