Not my usual style at all but when a song gets 10 MILLION views in 20 hours I need to hear that song.
If I look tired, I AM, that coffee kicked in as the song went on.

She’s incredibly talented. Unfortunately media hooks onto certain pop sounds and that’s what gets played on radio. She doesn’t use auto tune either. Sometimes they will put some effects on for certain impacts on particular lyrics, but not auto tune. Also, everything she’s released so far was recorded in her brother’s small “studio” in his bedroom, with her literally sitting on his bed. She said they wrote this song in 3 days and recorded it in one of the bunks on the bus. Then it was sent for the strings to be added, but Billie and her brother, Finneas (who produces all her music) had the final say on the finished product. You should really give a listen to some of her acoustic stuff. Amazing!

She actually does use auto tune... BUT she and Finneas use it for musical effects, definitely not to tune her vocals. By the way, those strings (orchestra) were added by famed soundtrack composer Hans Zimmer. Johnny Marr was the guitarist. All-star cast for this one!

@@Roguenjosh Start with Ocean Eyes, which Finneas wrote and she recorded at 13 years old. Then check out her EP and LP. Keep in mind that she was ~15 and ~16-17, respectively, when she recorded each of them. She also has some really great singles, like "When I was Older," which they wrote, recorded, and put out after watching the award winning movie Roma last year. It might be my favorite Billie song. She also had a song in an Apple commercial called "come out and play," which is really nice.

I got goosebumps when I heard this for the first time when it dropped on the fri night. I had heard everything I wanted so knew she had the vocals. Glad they went traditional bond. Thrilled Hans Zimmer and The Smiths Johnny Marr also worked on song to bring in orchestra and guitar to give it the bond sound while keeping it a Billie Ellish song because this works thru headphones like all her other works too. The final chords exactly same as first Bond song which is a great nod to bond music. The themes of the movie reflected in the song it’s just hauntingly beautiful without a screaming loud vocal like Adele. Glad it didn’t end up like a Madonna experimental theme. One of the best themes imo.

Bad Guy was really just a bit of fun and because it was so popular it sort of defined their sound, at least in the mainstream. Their acoustic jams are fire. Pleased to read your review...very honest. And as mentioned elsewhere - watch her performance on the 2020 Brit Awards. Billie does the first live performance of NTTD to a very enthusiastic audience of music fans and professionals - and nails the performance. Hans Zimmer (and orchestra) and Johnny Marr were performing on the stage with her (Zimmer and Marr!) and, of course, her brother Finneas (co-writer) was there too. Later, watch her acceptance speech for Best International Solo Female Artist - very heartfelt. She's the 'Real Deal' as they say here in the USA. TY again for your review.

Billie is played a lot in this house. Daughter is right into her & I enjoy the oddity of her music. This song is controversial though. I love it because it's a brilliant Bond song & the way she slides into the high notes with minimal breath is total skill. Daughter - Don't care about Bond & this isn't a good Billie song. Ouch! If you haven't seen it yet, check out the KZbin clip of this song done in the style of Chris Cornell. I know, it sounds problematic but it gave be goose bumps.

Just letting you know why I thumbed down... Saw "reaction" in the title and instead it was a commentary somehow pushing the entire video to over twice the actual song length and stopping 10 times throughout instead of enjoying and reacting to the song, somehow getting the overall video into the magic YT time of 8-10 minutes.
@Roguenjosh

Hey cookie, it’s not a monetised video so it doesn’t matter how long it goes for and I wasn’t a partner when I recorded it so it really didn’t matter. It is required that there is a pause every 30 seconds or the video gets blocked and is not able to be viewed (which has happened several times and you only get a first reaction once, so they just get lost), it is a reaction video, just not what you prefer, stay safe out there
