I went to the star installation thinking since it was raining, not many people would be there, but there was a huge crowd. Lots of enthusiasm & cheering. Nice to see. I always attended Carrie' s stage performances here & the last time I saw her was at her mother's movie costumes & other movie memorabilia in Beverly Hills years ago. Of course I'll go see the star & take a pic after the crowd is gone. Very happy to see the large crowd & love for Carrie Fisher. Rest in Peace, Princess

If you have daughters, and they want to be a princess, there's only one to have them strive to be and it's Leia. Disney inherited the best example of what a strong female lead can be, and it wasn't forced or contribed. Carrie was a great woman and went through a lot. Her acting was great, but her writing was phenomenal. There will never be another. The world is missing her these days.

I'm so glad Billie highlighted the fact that she wasn't JUST that actress from Star Wars. Jesus... She did SO much more than just that! She was an excellent stand up, telling crazy stories about the infamous Debbie, Liz Taylor, Mike Todd drama with a level of wit and humour that was unmatched. When I think about her, my first thought isn't just Princess Leia, she was FAR more than just that character that nerdy fans are obsessed with. Rest in Peace CARRIE FISHER, we love you.
@ImmortalDraylo Жыл бұрын
While I get that, that IS the reason she is as famous as she was. There is no denying that role and those "nerdy fans" put her where she was. You shouldn't look down on people like that
@DamienHurts Жыл бұрын
@@ImmortalDraylo I'm not looking down on them, I'm just laughing at them lol. But in all seriousness, it is what made her famous but I just think she has shown more of her talents in the work she did outside of the star wars universe.
@deadtoadsoup Жыл бұрын
@@DamienHurts Why are you laughing at them? Star Wars is modern mythology. If Disney hadn't been completely incompetent with the sequels, we'd be honoring her wonderful and memorable roles in the sequels as well. Yes, she did more complex characters in more sophisticated movies. But, is she loved and adored for those roles by the masses? 🐸
@DamienHurts Жыл бұрын
@@deadtoadsoup I'm not part of the 'masses', for this and many many other reasons. It's just my personal opinion. Her character wasn't very fleshed out or nuanced, and I think crazy fans of any franchise are irritating and cringe. Sorry not sorry
@Ruylopez778 Жыл бұрын
I think it's just because it was a Hollywood star. Though I am surprised Billie didn't really mention that she adapted her own novel into a screenplay, because that's relevant. From her interviews, I get the impression that Carrie much preferred writing to acting, and being a mental health advocate was as important as anything else. But Carrie also acknowledged that she couldn't escape Leia, and Leia wasn't such a bad thing to be stuck with, all things considered.

I had the good fortune of being able to attend the Carrie Fisher Tribute at Star Wars Celebration's 40th Anniversary panel in Orlando in 2017, where George Lucas and Billie Lourd gave very moving and touching speeches, and John Williams performed Princess Leia's theme with the Orlando Philharmonic... I also attended Mark Hamill's panel as well, where he spoke fondly about Carrie... Both were very moving events... There wasn't a dry eye in the house... I will never forget it... this Walk of Fame ceremony bought back all of those bitter-sweet memories... This event was just as touching! It's about time that this "Star Wars Star" got a "Hollywood Walk of Fame Star"... Well deserved! I also had the good fortune to see Carrie on stage at SW Celebration in 2012... She was HILARIOUS! One of the happiest moments of my life as a Star Wars fan... We miss you, Carrie... I'd jump into a trash compactor with you anytime... You have been my Princess since 1977... You will be our Princess forever... May the Force be with you... Always. Now, please be a good "Force Ghost", find a log, and have a good "sit-down chat" with your daughter! Remember when Carrie once said to that "contemptible pig", Jake Blues... "You betrayed me! So, for me... For my mother, my grandmother, my father, my uncle, and for the common good... I must now kill you and your brother." Let's hope that this movie dialogue doesn't extend to Billie's feelings about Joely, Tricia, and Todd! All joking aside... I don't know who's right and who's wrong... but it's time to heal these old wounds... I don't think that Carrie or Debbie would have wanted this... And besides... It's not the Jedi way! Those of us who saw the Star Wars movies and the documentaries she recorded showed us Carrie Fisher being a case. Just like her Leia character, she is honest, direct, frank and direct, she is not intimidated or bends the knee to anyone because her natural rebellion prevents her from doing so, she is tough and vulnerable to it, she knows what she wants and has the determination to achieve what she wants. that she proposes
