I have a question. I'm Reading a book about english phonetic. It talks about voiced plosive consonants that ARE sometimes unvoiced. What is that mean?

Hello! A great question! It's a bit difficult to answer without more context from your book. But I guess that it might be taking about 'devoicing' of voiced plosives at the end of a word? In many English dialogues /b/, /g/ and /d/ are often devoiced when they are the last sound in a word. You could compare 'bit' vs. 'bid', as well as the /d/ in 'bid' and 'day'. I hope this helps!
