Add a page or two in the rules of what the different icons should look like. This idea reminds me of kill marks on a ww2 fighter or slashes on a gunslinger's pistol grip.

As a member of the tribe of lazy painters, I heartily support the idea of earning the various painted on details after victories. Of course, that also means that I will be tempted to loose all my battles so that I won't have to paint anything else on my bot...
@livanbard

Why not just glue stickers/decals on? That could be cool.

@@livanbard The tribe of lazy painters has a rule about stickers and decals. We are totally against them. Instead, I think might put one or more toothpicks on the backpack of my bot. For every win, I will put a bead onto a toothpick. If I am feeling ambitious, I might add some eyes to each bead, so they represent all the "skulls" my bot has collected through all of its battles.

I love the idea of bots earning their stripes over the course of a campaign. I just would like the symbols to be kept as simple as possible because it's going to be difficult to pay complex symbols if you have a limited skill or time
@Bluecho4

I can imagine using masking tape to create thin vertical, horizontal, or diagonal lines across parts of the bot. Or better yet, cutting geometric shapes into bits of the masking tape, applying it, then using it to stencil the shapes onto the bots.

My 18 yr old daughter and I will definitely be playing your game together! She loved your Tonks battle report and the tank you built too - she's a big fan of tanks 🙂 You may already have one but can I recommend a needleworker's magnetic pincushion, either for your desk or one for your wrist (as often seen on the Great British Sewing Bee!)? I sew and knit and so on and I have had a basic desk version for over 20 years now. They are so incredibly useful! You can just throw anything small and metallic (as long as it has some iron content) in its rough direction and it will grab it! It's also incredibly useful for those moments when a CAT knocks a box of pins off the table as you can just hoover them up off the floor with it 😀 I really envy your seemingly endless well of creativity, Bill! Whenever I feel like mine is waning, I come back and watch some of your videos. I know that it's not an endless well because KZbin Bill is NOT IRL Bill but as someone who has an endless urge to create but always struggles with coming up with ideas, thank you so much for sharing your work with us nonetheless. And please take care of yourself, protect that well of creativity, burnout is a very real thing that happens to KZbinrs.

I'm assuming you've watched 'em before, but in case you haven't, I'd recommend you watch 1987's "Robot Carnival". It's an hour and a half film that is a 9 part anthology with the only common element in the shorts being "robots are involved." The "Opening" and "End" segments is how I imagine the Gutterlands in motion, and "Franken's Gears" feels like a story that could happen in your setting. "A Tale of Two Robots" tonally feels like something you'd like, "Presence" is just a classic, and "Nightmare" is your exact aesthetic. Each segment had at max a staff of like 5 people, so it's rad to see what a small team can and want to actually make

As a small bit tip I want to say that I use hypodermic Tips of needles and little metal Springs from clocks or little pens to make somewhat convincing plasma weapons/antennae for this type of scale. Looks like I discovered this channel at exactly the right time. My son and I have started collecting bits for 'bots and I'm looking forward to the game. I have a couple of questions that I've not been able to find answers to in the vids or website: 1) I see you using various gauges of armature wire - spine, arm and finger (?). what would be some good widths to start out with? I got 2mm on order, what else do I need? 2) You spray the things every so often - what is it and why? 3) Where'd these beads come from?! I thought I'd be able to easily order a variety of wooden beads online, but it's weirdly hard. Thanks!

Oh no, fact checking suggested in a Bill Making Stuff video! Might want to fix that in the edit... oh, editing's done? Whoops. Loving the game plan... er, the game you're planning, not the "game plan" like... uh... I'm just going to shut up now. Earning stripes/decals is awesome! What you REALLY need, though, is a weapon pack of some kind, to store each of the hands/guns in. Something that can roll along for Bangarang, keep up with the bot so it can swap out the hands as needed. (And so you don't lose them. But that's just a handy side effect. Yes. Definitely.) I do have a request, though, that maybe you might name the pages of your Gutterlands website something other than "copy-of-creatures", "copy-of-creatures-1", and "copy-of-world". Kinda grates, like all the baking soda that's gotta be under your fingernails.
