Hi Bill. I got my phantom 4 pro + on Monday. Since then I'm trying to connect my remote controller to the phantom with no luck. I tried every trick in the book to resolve the problem until I saw your video. I had exactly the same problem, the phantom was 2 softwares behind, while the controller was with the latest update. You mentioned that you could do HDR directly with the camera. That option has gone away in the DJI GO v4.0, at least for my P4 (or maybe they moved that setting). I didn't see it when you were on that configuration screen. Can you confirm? I shoot for HDR more than not, but have never used the built-in HDR. I like more control, so I shoot AEB-5 and merge/tone-map in lightroom.

I am excited about the pro + with it's super-bright screen for daylight use without the need of a hood. It's also nice not having to charge the screen separately from the main controller and the elegance of having no cable dangling.

I took my new Phantom4 Pro Plus out for some photos today for the first time. I also found out it is not ready to fly out of the box. Had to go home and do a firmware update. Did not have the issues you had. After I did the update. I was flying. I like to hear about updating the controller. When I go to Aircraft Status in the DJI GO APP. Its says; Updates Required. And when I clicl that button on the very top. It does not show any updates. SO its kind of confusing on the updates. I did my Firmware updates using the DJI Assistance software using the USB Cable to my MacBook Air. No problems.

awesome review Bill as always, i really liked how well you documented the troubles you had during the setup. Most people wouldn't do that, they would just cut that part out. Thanks for the tips and tricks abou the setup process which is a litte diff than the P4. Your right about the display, its bright, vibrant and colorful. It's funny how dji decided to go with a 5.5 inch display that isn't apple based. Ever since i knew dji was pro apple, it is really nice to know that dji adopted for a samsung type display. Hi Bill, I’m a new subscriber and really enjoyed this video. For Christmas 2020, I purchased my first Drone from DJI for my son. It’s a Mavic 2. Like many first time drone users he was excited and wanted to use it and of course it crashed. While the damage is limited to a broken left arm, dealing with the DJI guys is like pulling teeth. The individual I spoke with had a terrible problem with constantly talking over me and not allowing me to explain what I needed to say. Furthermore since I did not purchase the DJI care refresh package I would need to pay for the repair on my own which of course I was fine with. What I was not fine with was the following: I asked them if after they repair the drone, if they could also certify the drone for the care refresh package since it was in their hands and then I would be set to go once the drone was returned to me. They explained that I would have to follow their online protocols producing videos and so forth to get certified. I explained that I perfectly understood that there was a process but that DJI should also provide the ability to certify the drones as well once they left drone repair and were once again certified to fly. This would assure them of their money upfront and would be a 100% fool proof process to confirm the drone’s eligibility for the program. The individual continued with their robotic prepared (don’t deviate from course) speech. These people sound more like robots than people. At the end of the day I just said that I would write to the CEO and try to get my point across that way and they said that would perhaps be the best process. There is no warmth to this company; they have a very cold antiseptic approach to dealing with their clientele. They may know how to build drones but they know nothing about how to deal with people. Very sad indeed. They are not free thinkers at least in customer support and they left me wanting to just take a hammer to the drone so I could quickly end the relationship. Unfortunately the Fly more package set me back over $1,000.00 so I guess I am stuck with them for some time. I guess they bank on that. Well, that’s all I’ve got. I hope they sort this out as they really do build nice drones. Looking forward to many more of your videos. Thanks again.

I found that if the controller has been on too long before the P4P+ is powered on then they dont connect. what I noticed is that my controller was not mode 2 and I didnt get the setup screen like you did where i could name my P4P. going to reset now and look at that.

Did your drone come with a 16GB Sony Micro SD card inside the Card Slot of your drone? I ordered a brand new one from Adorama and I had this Micro SD card installed inside the drone already....Drone did not work properly and I just got an exchange and boom again another Micro SD card inside my drone and this time my props aren't in a carry pouch so they must keep sending me a refurbished unit but just wanted to check and see if you had this as well?

Awesome vid with great tips.. I've seen another you-tuber experience a lot of lag in DJI flight simulator with the 4pro+ android version. He compared it with a phantom 4 controller with iPhone and the iPhone was so much more responsive. I have seen people experiencing glitches while using there phantom 4 and Mavic pro with Android have you had any issues in flight.. Great Videos Bill, I have my p4pro Plus it's my first drone and I too have also left the gimbal clamp on accidentally....Human hey! In fact I have done it a few times and after releasing it the gimble it goes through its routine. I may be wrong but I believe it knows the clamps on otherwise it would make more noise surely! And whether it's 2 secs or 10 secs it does the same routine when free. Anyway I have a reminder on my drone now just incase. Keep up the good work... p.s I have Frame rates missing on mine which is annoying :(

it would be a nice addition if you can see your location pinned on the screen, i dont think it is something hard to do since the gps records the take off point as home point. it helps a lot to see where you are from the screen on the ground and i think all it takes is a firmware update

+Jad Mcdad this is already done, you have a map in the lower left corner that shows your home point that was record as well as the location of your drone. It also shows the heading of the drone and can be an immense help when you are bringing it back

Very informative video. I'm in the market for my first drone and was planning on purchasing either the Phantom 4 Pro or Phantom 4 Pro+. I understand the craft themselves are the same but am having trouble confirming a few items regarding the remotes. I understand the key difference is the screen addition, which by all accounts appears to be very bright and clear which is excellent for high light situations However like some others I do have some concerns about not being able to hook up another screen if it were to get damaged. Was the clarity of the built in screen significantly better outdoors than an iPad? Would you lose any other functionality by taking the standard remote and using an iPad or another independent device? Is the Phantom 4 Pro remote the same as the Phantom 4 remote? Does the Pro remote have the additional features that the Pro+ remote has (minus the screen)? In your opinion would you recommend the Pro or Pro+?

Bill got my P4pro about a week ago the same day the mac app dji4pro app came out ,out of the box hooked up my ipad ro with the dji4pro app to the controller, turned on the drone and the app informed me twice that I needed to update the firmware,this was quick and easy and a heck of a lot better then going on to the dji chat which as you know can be a real pain.

You cant I tried with my iOS devices , when you plug anything into the SD port the Plus screen starts searching for video and photo files , so I presume you can also import from memory sticks etc as well as from the micro sd card slot , I have not yet found any way to export to the micro sdcard that is inserted , I was hoping the cache flight video would save to that if a card was in the slot , apparently not.

I wish I would have remembered every step but after you upload the app to your ipad and hook your remote up to the ipad you turn on your drone and remote and it will tell you that you need to upload your firmware you upload it once and when it is completed it will ask you to upload the next version then when that uploads it will show you how to plug in the cable with that comes with your drone directly into the slot on the drone next to where you micro card goes in the drone. I should have recorded a video to the process but if I could do anyone should be able to do it

Are you sure you are talking about the same version , This is the Plus version that cannot use an external device for a screen , the Normal P4P will work the way you describe .

Hi, how you see the maps with satellite view? has a lte conection or you use your phone like access point?

Hi Sergio - You see a map with a home point point set and your path, but without the actual map overlay (location data of where you are). If you want the actual map data (besides your location) you would need to be connected to wifi somehow. The controller itself though does have a real GPS so it can set home point, return to home without being connected to wifi.

You don't have to have a card in both. The SD card slot is in the controller since you no longer have a phone tethered to cache video to it will cache to the MicroSD card instead.

uptowndisco2 mine was full of issues, first I got that Chinese popup screen, second for odd reasons I didn't get the 120fps @ 1080p, I tried the 2 different ideas and to switch between NTSC and pal... Nothing worked, I have no draw the path capability they talking about and to be honest I don't know what else is missing.. And all I get from dji tech guy is that they r going to address all these problems in their next firmware upgrade... I don't even believe them anymore

I wish instead of disabling the side sensors in p mode they just made it speed sensitive. It would be way better if once you dropped to a speed in which the infrared sensors worked you got an indication on the app that they were on and off automatically, I don’t see why they don’t do that.

i got the phantom 4 pro + cuz it seemed to have so many advantages. now i find that the goggles won't have the same abilities with the phantom 4 pro + as with the phantom 4 pro regular. so lame, as its actually the more expensive product. i know you have a good relationship with dji. can you encourage them to maybe fix this via firmware so that the phantom 4 pro + can actually do more than just have live view with the goggles? if enough pressure is put on them maybe they'll add it via firmware. Great vid, Bill. The lack of third-party app support is a pretty big deal breaker for me. No Litchi, No Drone Deploy, No thanks. Hopefully they'll let other apps on eventually.

hey,,, i got troubles in my macroSD, is it happens to you ? i did some flight and recorded video, i should get 6 videos but i only get 3 in macroSD and 3 others just able in album, but it is funny, because automaticly save in album on the tab, it should be save in microSD right ? if you know to fix it, please share to me bro :D

if it cached to your phone it should be there - maybe try formatting your MicroSD or replacing it

BillNicholsTV I did try to format couple of times, is not work as well... I'm just sure that i records video but I lost my footage that I recorded it not save on microSD, it just become a cache not a real footage T.T what happens to my phantom

...is it worth pre-ordering the polarpros, or is the one you're working on going to be better/lower priced? Can we at least know which NDs are going to be made? I was looking for the ND64 on the p4p, but polarpro said there wasn't enough demand. Those nd64s made it possible to do some daytime/sunset long exposure shots. Great for the beaches.

Yeah that's why there was a quick cut then you see it off. Sometimes my brain goes one way when I am focused on delivering the message and making sure all the video and all is going well as well. Cheers!

BillNicholsTV I can relate. Your doing a fantastic job. People don't realize all you have to think about when shooting something as simple as an unboxing especially when your trying to get multiple shots and shot everything and capture the best audio and, and... your doing a great job I watch your stuff and enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing the P4pro in action.

New PP4+ crashes the app. Had it one day and now its back at DJI.. 8 working days later no word... UUUGG! Did you have any app issues with yours?

DJI has the ND filters for the P4P on their website.

Right they do and it looks like it will be weeks before they ship any out you can also order nd filters and polar filters from polarprofilters.com which may START on a first come basic by the end of December. You get a better selection of filters from polar pro filters but keep in mind the plastic camera protector that comes with the phantom may not fit over the polar pro filters

Right I placed orders for filters from both DJI and polar pro, I prefer the filters from polar pro because they also have polarizers and the glass is top quality the only drawback is the plastic that holds the lens in place when shipping etc will not fit , because you cannot get the ideal settings on a bright sunny day without an nd filter or polarizer I will take who ever ships first,one other note polar pro is in us and you can call them or email them and there customer service is outstanding.
