Regearing 2018 Tacoma 4.88 Nitro Gears on 33s

Tacoma 2018 finally regeared to Nitro Gears 4.88 on 33" wheels

Did the gear howling disappear over time? I noticed when you took your foot off the peddle at 70mph the howl sound began. Also what brand and weight diff oil have you been using?

Thanks for asking. Fills like after Toyota dealer changed recently all oils, including dif Oil on my 30k service. it's not as noisy as it used to be. Sorry I don't know exactly what oil they used but I asked them if it's fully sintetic, they said yes. It never bothered me or my friends, but my wife first few months was asking, can you change it back. Now she's ok with it, not even paying attention. If you ask me if I'm happy what I did, the answer is yes after few years later. Gears not switching constantly, motor fills more powerful, RPMs slightly higher and I love it, instead of 1800, now 2k. Not sure about gas saving, seems the same. Thanks again

@@billpelt1 Thank you for sharing. Mine are not terribly loud but its a sound that was not there before haha. Hopefully after break in and gear oil change mine also quiet down a bit.

Hello there did you needed a time after adding the new gears and what happened to the ECT button? Dios it loose it’s function or it non use sable after the trans upgrade?

After regearing you don't need any extra caution or time but there is oil change in gears after 500 miles. And I don't use ECT button, it shouldn't loose it's function

Thanks, I'm happy I did, truck not changing gears all the time and has more power. It cost me about 3k, parts was little less than 1.5k and dealer charged me 1.5k.

What gear ratio did you have before sir

Yes, mpg much better now, full tank good for 325 miles, before was 280 max

And this is city and hyway mixed, no freeways yet to check, plus in Oregon roads up and down , hard to check on straight roads. I'm sure I can make more miles on straight freeway roads. Thanks for asking. By the Way-my wife don't like the sound its making when you release gas pedal, it's fine for me tho...
