on a 2021 f150 4.88 33" factory tires and 20" wheels (275/60/20) gives me a +800rpm (3.31-1450, 3.73-1650, 4.11-1850, 4.56-2050, 4.88-2250) at 75mph. going slower to 63/64mph with a 2.5 ton/ 5000lbs trailer would almost eliminate the downshifting on the v8. Curious to see numbers on 12300lbs (max for me is 12900), mainly for pulling a boat out of the water and driving 80-120 miles round trip to boat ramp once/twice a week. Helpful videos, great job. looking at doing it myself so all info no matter how detailed is a tremendous assist.

I have a 2020 Tacoma automatic 33" tires and a regular shell. Should I go 4.88 or 5.29? I also have KDMAX tune

Are you adding much more weight than stock (over 800 lbs over)? Are you doing a lot of rock crawling? Are you doing a lot of highway? Are you planning on eventually going with bigger tires?

Thanks, this was exactly what I was looking for 🤙

Good evening Kflo And thank you for all the wonderful and very helpful video, I have a question for you, I have a 2009 Tacoma TRD sport my rack and pinion is leaking from one of the line

I would recommend watching my steering rack replacement video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4mbo2ljf5V7b5I). You may just be able to replace the one line

Running 36” tires, 5.29 for the win 😂👌🏼👌🏼

Yup, that's a great combination for Gears and Tires! You can always go bigger tires too with the 5.29. Maybe 40's 🤘

Omg I remember the regear days. Kept me up all night. Since we’re past that how about we look into a 2nd gen tune. Before a super charger is it worth it? I’m currently 315/75/16 with 4.88 and boy it’s a dream. Specially with 800lbs static weight added to the rig. I live in the mountains so my feeed back is honest AF

Yea, figuring out which gears took me such a long time till I made my decision on the 4.88 w/ manual. I was almost going to pull the trigger on the 5.29's but would've been so over geared. I'll research some ECU tunes and other options out there. I'm glad the 4.88's is working out well. I hope my vids helped w/ installing them!

There is 34 inch tires. I am running 285-75-17. This is the best size IMO without too much cutting

Your tacoma is the 2nd gen the transmission is different to the 3rd gen tacoma. Many people says 5.29 ratio, because 3rd gen has 6 speed auto transmission and you can go until 100 mph without problem. What do you think?

Just ordered 4.88 for my manual. Currently 33" tires. Should I be worried about my highway rpms being too high?
@KFloTacoma3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, it's really based on your personal opinion. My opinion of high may be different from your opinion of high. I would recommend re-watching the video: 1) Figure out your comfortable/usual cruising highway speed 2) Use the graph and figure out if your RPMs based on your gear and tire setup 3) Drive at that RPM using a lower gear and ask yourself if you're comfortable with that

Guys, the website is currently under construction. The charts will be posted there in a few days. Here's the link to the google drive though if you're interested: drive.google.com/file/d/1BEV9RaImuOm2nY708MV472HvXzGUMoCq/view?usp=sharing Also as mentioned in the video if you need a rear axle (fitted w/ 4.88 and w/ 35 spline Chromoly axles), contact Diego (IG: instagram.com/lordofspicytacos ).

Detail I totally forgot to mention, I run the 4.88 because the dana60 ring gear is 9.75inches and has 4.88 and jumps to 5.38.
