When people talk about how role players are better now I think part of it is, as you call out, the rules have changed to allow scoring to be MUCH easier. But another part is that I *do* think they are better at fitting into a role now. I think there are a lot more role players these days that fit specific, useful roles. I think back in the '90s, role players were weirder, with skillsets that weren't necessarily the 3-and-D of today... which probably makes them "better" now (not overall better players, but easier to fit within a winning structure), although I appreciate how there was more variety in styles back in the day. Kinda reminds me of the NFL a bit: back in the early '00s, I think you could be a contender with a defensive identity, a run-first identity, OR a passing identity. Nowadays, you aren't really a true contender without an elite QB and the ability to hit big plays (unless you have Mahomes, then you don't necessarily need the latter). It's not "worse"... but it's kinda worse. (I don't even necessarily think we should go back, player safety should be prioritized... but I can also acknowledge that more homogeneity makes the game a bit less fun to watch.)

Why does nobody mention the fact that the cavs have had a weak schedule so far? 9 outta their 13 wins came against teams with losing records
@123wat456sea16 сағат бұрын
Because everyone else in the East, including the Celtics, have had similar schedules. The Cavs have just won more, and the teams that were supposed to be better have sucked. And it’s not like the world is lacking in national talking heads talking about the Celtics, Knicks, Sixers, Lakers and Warriors. The Celtics are 10-3 and they’ve only played one team (the 7-6 Magic) with a winning record - who should they be talking about?

Why is anyone paying any of these athletes any of these contracts is what Im wondering. You simply aren't ever winning a title with Zach Levine. No. Ingram. No. Zion. No. Why pay them? What is the point? Why pay Joel Embiid? He's never going ro win you anything. The problem is that the size of these contracts outweighs the ability of the reipients to produce on the court. These contracts are championship sized contracts going to players that aren't good basketball players.

Lavine was the guy. Then they got DeRozan who tried to take that away from Lavine. Then Lavine was in trade rumors. Why wouldn't he have been sulking? I even saw times where Lavine was wide open for three but demar drove and rook contested mid rangers and would miss. Then lavine would immediately walk away. Even if he made them.
