I think the current problem with the US Olympic team has been the same problem they've been having forever. They are an All-Star team who gets together for a couple weeks every 4 years and has to take on teams that have been playing with each other for a long time. We would almost be better off just sending our NBA championship team to play as the representative with possibly an All-Star set of reserves. I know that's not going to happen and I'm not even sure if that would be the answer but I would feel better about the Boston Celtics taking on Spain or Germany than I would about this team. Also Joel Embiid has been awful so now we know that he's not just horrible in the playoffs he's horrible under all the brightest lights. Over the last year or so I've started to believe that Joel Embiid is the most overrated player in the NBA. It's not going to be his fault if we don't win the gold but I doubt whether it will be his fault if we do win the gold.😊

When you are coaching a team lik the USA, you are basically walking the line of not insulting the stars. It's all about their feeling, not about coaching . In Europe, it's team above individuals. They have quite a bit of offensive talent in 1v1 situations, but when it comes to team basketball, team defense, and general continuity I am taking the field in the olympics. If you are playing with LeBron everything is designed for him to look good and be the focal point. I've always wondered if he could just distribute and play point forward and I think the answer is no, hope it works out but I also will be placing a bet against them.

This is LeBron's send-off so the team will allow him to freelance on offense all he wants, but he has been awful on defense. The team needs either White or Holiday to be at the other guard spot. As good as Edwards is, he's likely the player who would want to shoot his own shot, regardless. It's great if the shots fall, but if not, you just have to point out the results in 2023. I think Tatum is just happy to be with the team and given his grueling 2023-24 season, he won't try hard. It's somewhat evident in his sloppy play in the tune-up games. I don't really know why they picked Haliburton, he wasn't really good in the FIBA WC. He's my candidate to see the least amount of minutes. Booker v Edwards is an interesting debate. Booker has a more advanced skill set but Edwards is more physically imposing, and likely to play better defense. If KD plays crunch-time Booker is a better fit. If Tatum plays, I'd go with Edwards. If they need more defense I can see Steph even sitting some of the crunch-time minutes. This team just has to guard the perimeter shot and crash the boards.
