In terms of the start of ‘96… I heard an interview with Gary Pallister who said that after he heard the news of the BIG departures that summer he immediately knocked the manager’s door and asked what are you doing? To which Ferguson replied “If I don’t make room in the first team for these young players coming through them it’s all been for nothing…” It was the culmination of Ferguson’s dream and there’s no way he could have anticipated it would have turned out as well as it did 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

As it turned out ManUtd could've lost that game although being in front may have made Newcastle (who led but then drew with Spurs at home) lose motivation knowing that a win for them could be in vain. Yep I was waiting for him to say Owen when talking about best natural finishers… was actually surprised when he mentioned Coley. He got better with age, but early on Andy Cole was a terrible finisher, but his pace usually got him twice as many chances as any other striker in the league so he scored loads. I remember England managers not playing him due to his finishing not being clinical enough.
