Thanks for this. Love the melancholy. This was my favorite BB album. My dad died in 1994 and tank park salute was the only song I played for over a year. I was 21. He was my whole world

It's a great song, mate and a good way to remember your dad. This album is a great album as well. Cindy of a Thousand and God's Footballer are my favourites - "He scores goals on a Saturday, and saves souls on a Sunday!

Hello my brother, Philip. Mine died in 1993, and in '94 listening to this song through heavy tears and heavier heart eventually led to a bout of serious depression. I was 41. I don't think there is ever an age for a child to lose their parent. My mother died in 1969 when I was 17. Grieving for my dad and my younger and older siblings, I delayed grieving for far too long, at the expense of every girlfriend afterward, but especially my wife of 15 years. Eventually she was worn down by my own melancholy. And these three people were MY whole world. Which I believe is an important lesson we can all learn: only we--to ourselves--should truly be out whole world. For only we will not leave ourselves. At out own deaths, we will move forward with fascination at the eventual realities that are (wisely I think) hidden from us all. Live and let live. Don't restrict yourself. Embrace life in all its magic and frustrations.
