As astounding as Billy is I have huge respect for him also surrounding himself with expert technical musicians. Each man on that stage oozes individual talent and they compliment each other perfectly, stepping back when needed, adding when needed, they know each other. This song hits me like a box of rocks. My parents were meth addicts when I was a child that ruined our lives. Consumed with homelessness and just down right uncertainty. Would we eat, get robbed, raped? My father is clean now but All I ever wanted was an apology from him but he won’t admit to any of it. He just ignores the subject. Now I suffer from depression and anxiety. So every lyric of this song hits so hard. I love it when a song can just reach into your soul and pull something out.

Just found this about 4 days ago. I can't stop listening to it. Mesmerizing, soul wrenching. A new view each hearing. Forgiveness. Absolution. But full force. The comparison to some of the all time greats is apt. But he's managed to bring something all of his own to it. Those other boys know their business well. Hats off to you all. Beautiful mix. The bass is perfection. "But I'll try to keep living Through the nauseating gloom." If you only knew how true.

Absolute mad man. There’s just those once in a lifetimes Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix, Yuja Wang, Billy Strings there’s people thatve just been touched by god or maybe sold their soul idk but talents that no matter how much us normal people work towards we simply can’t obtain

He use to be in a metal band. I woulda like to have heard his metal licks. You can hear the thrash influence all over his bluegrass songs. I’ve always said.”When I can’t play metal anymore, bluegrass is the next best thing”

Bluegrass just is the best thing. Metal is the next best thing. Even if only because of the vocals.

I believe that this is one of if not the finest musical examples of prodigies I have ever witnessed! I’m in my 60’s, and have seen a lot of super great bands and this guy ‘Billy’ and his band are right at the top, if not over it! We went and saw these guys in Indy a few weeks ago. They played for just under 3 hours and when it ended I’m thinking that’s it! They are that good!

He pulls people from everywhere, bcuz he plays so many different styles. I like his own stuff most, but when I find a track he played I like, I always love his way of playing it! Sometimes more than the original. Btw "blessed by god?" Cereal? That does not sound very death metal bro, but yeah, I know exactly what you mean. He has just mad Skillz! He is truly a guitar god in the flesh! Btw he played Slipknot once, and I always liked the midnight rider, he did that one too. So there`s something for almost everyone. No death metal so far, as far as I know, sadly. but he would nail it, I just know it!

Billy started out as metal guitarist - playing Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. He was introduced to bluegrass by his uncle IIRC. He definitely brings a dark edge to his music that would appeal to metal heads.
