My Dad's Uncle, Juan Widner, married Petra Coleman in the 30's maybe? Well.... Petra's Dad and Grandfather owned a ranch in Rodey, N.M. Patricio Coleman Sr. bought the land and started the ranch in the mid-1800's and we're told that Billy was a ranch hand for a time. I need to find out if there's any pictures from that time that may have Billy in them. This seems to be common knowledge among the family and Billy made a living working as an itinerant ranch hand before getting into trouble.

A branding iron with a plain tip can be used to change a brand on cattle and horses. The hot iron can be used to "draw" a new brand by altering the old one. The common name for such an iron is a "running" iron because it is run over the hide rather than stamping. A common tool used by rustlers who would likely be hung for stealing livestock back then. I personally believe that Brushy Bill was Billy the kid. I've heard that my whole life as I can remember being at the age of 10 and every year I went to Missouri to visit my in-laws and I loved hearing my grandfather and his old buddies would bring up a lot about Jesse James. My grandmother was kin to Jesse James and she used to say I have Jesse's hair. Because I have a dark spot on the back of my head, my grandmother said it was passed down from her side of the family which is Jesse James family. My grandfather would talk about his dad and the Lincoln war, and every time grandpa got to drinking it was always, Billy the kid is not dead. Stop believing your teacher's... this was back in the early 90s. I'll never forget my grandpa and grandma taking me through Missouri and showing me the arch at St Louis, that lead the cowboys and to the old home place of Jesse James. Down by the river where my uncle lives was a tree with old carvings in it. My grandfather said Jesse used to fish, swim, bathe all in the little river. It looked like a big creek to me. I really miss my grandparents and the things they have told me. I'll always think Brushy Bill is the kid.

Whether he was Billy, who knows but he had 18 different people sight affidavits to knowing brushy in the 18880s and 90s as an adult, working jobs at a time when Ollie P was a child. Been to ft Sumner, some cool items, but the fact of the matter is that outside, there is a grave stone with 3 names on it. But there is no graves under it. This area has flooded at least two times and anything buried there is long gone. As far as Billy the kid, he lived to be 90 years old and had one hell of a life. He was buried in Hamilton, TX under the name William Roberts, ak Brushy Bill Roberts. This has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. As far as Pat Garrett, he shot a pal of Billy's that went over to Maxwell's to get a piece of meat. When Garrett seen that he shot the wrong man, he passed the man off as Billy. He was buried quickly. As Garrett realized he would be charged with murder. SHAME ON NEW MEXICO FOR NOT CORRECTING HISTORY TOURIST DOLLARS.

Definitely more fun to think Billy wasn’t killed given the events surrounding his death and the reason he was began fighting. I’m not saying he was perfect, though I’m sure the opposing side tried to smear his name with more than he ever did-I just think he was fighting the good fight against the Sante Fe ring. He lost his life because of it, however, I think we are fighting or should be anyway, a much larger and more corrupt ring…

Billy did not lose his life. Brushy Bill Roberts was 100% William H Bonney, aka Billy The Kid. Go to Brett Hall's channel and listen to all the evidence. Read Brett's book The Real Billy The Kid AKA Brushy Bill Roberts. History needs to be told truthfully

I don't think Pat killed the kid that night I am a retired truck driver and I load north of Los Cruesas (might of spelled that wrong) in 2007 and old man had to be about 80 looked like a skeleton with skin pulled over him "I said here I am driving were btk road and supposed to got killed by Pat he laughed and said he never got killed by Pat it wàs a setup and the kid lived in Las Cruces for many years before going on down to old Mexico and later on I was in a souvenir shop in lordsburg NM and the lady had pictures of btk setting with her aunt's in 1920's

Cool museum but hard to get into since you don't really know if the items are the real deal. Kind of hard to verify.
