Im not ever really mad when you dont pick my movie suggestions (i mean i'm one person im not expecting you to single me out plus you always still do movies i like even if it wasnt on my suggestions list) but i just have to say I am definitely not mad about this movie reaction because I really LOVE Brother Bear definitely one i would suggest along with Tarzan and a few others that aren't Disney but still amazing animated films like: -Prince of Egypt (a masterpiece) -Anastasia -How to Train Your Dragon (The trilogy) -Coraline -Shark tale (a lot of people forgot about it) -Kung Fu Panda (The trilogy) -Spirit Everyone always shout out Disney movies (rightfully so, because they do have amazing films) but these movies by Dreamworks are remarkable and im glad they are getting more attention these days as well as Disney's older darker animated films like The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Loved your reaction to it btw) Waiting on the Premiere right now. Love your channel! :)

To answer your question: the spirits didn’t transform kenai into a bear because he killed a bear. Death happens all the time. They did that because of WHY he killed the bear. He did it out of pure hatred and anger, which is the opposite of what his totem represents, and because he hates bears and thinks of them as emotionless monsters when that’s not the case at all. In fact, if you read the translation of the lyrics of the song that was playing while kenai was in the blue pool about to transform, you’d see that. So cool

Cool little detail you might miss: When he's a human, the movie is shown in letterbox, but when he wakes up as a bear, it transitions into wide-screen, and the colors become more vibrant, to represent Kenai's perspective changing.

I’m not sure if this was pointed out ... but FUN FACT they get a totem once they come of age .. and Sitka (the eldest who sacrificed himself at the beginning his totem was an Eagle for guidance) and from the second Kenai (the brother who got the bear totem for love) transforms into a bear there’s always an eagle in the shots watching over him on his journey ... beautiful detail in the movie

I like the fact that when Kenai was human we didn't understand what the bear was saying - we only heard a growlin, roaring... But when Kenai was the bear and we understood what the other bears were saying, it was Denahi who was growling and roaring instead of talking (except for the short "No!" by the river) - just like a wild animal...

Best part: look up the lyrics of the song when Kenai gets transformed into a bear. It literally goes "come with me, I will show you what you didn't see" meaning that Sitka turned Kenai into a bear so he could see it from Coda's mom's perspective. And what becomes even darker is when you see Kenai fight Denai in the final, he doesn't. He gives up. But as Coda shows up, all he wants is to keep him save. Literally what the terrified mother bear probably went through as she was fighting to protect Coda. And he literally "died" by being pierced on the Speer of Denai like Coda's mom died. Sitka quite literally made him go through hell to understand what he messed up.

RIGHT? I WAS LIKE "NO WAY" But maybe is because Disney movies are more common now and is difficult for them to put a "random" bear dying at the beginning and after Koda saying his mother is missing and this two factors are not connected

@bobbysmith8095 3 жыл бұрын
To me, even as an adult, I could see the twist l. However, I am was more into the reaction like ok so his mom dead what now? What gonna happen to the baby bear ? I think people figure out he kill the baby bear mom but no one figure out he was gonna stay a bear.
@Hater20X

I saw it as a kid too.. didn't see the twist and it made me cry.. I was separated from my mom during the time I watched this movie. she was trying to become a US citizen. I was able to come across Mexico into the USA because I was born in the USA. So I stayed with my aunt in California while my mom was trying to get her papers organized from Mexico. I was like 7 years old.And when the twist of him killing the little bears mom happend I cried like a baby because it reminded me of my mom and that i might never see her again. it had been months since I had seen my mom and this movie hit me in that what if I never see my mom ethier again. She was the only person I really had growing up partly in Mexico up until that point. I was with my Aunt but she was practically a stranger who i had just met a couple months ago. It made me cry and I was scared :(

I think the most beautiful moment in this film is during the song "Welcome to our family time" the moment when he sings "I see family, I see the way we used to be." because he was starting to feel that same joy he used to feel with his own brothers. It's beautiful because it's the moment he realizes animals are just as capable of love as his own family. It's such a beautiful moment.

Brother Bear, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron, Free Willy, Andre, Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, The Lorax, The Pebble and the Penguin, & A Troll in Central Park are all movies with environmental awareness messages that helped me become radicalised and an activist as a child and teenager. From animal rights, to ocean cleaning, preventing deforestation, to learning to live alongside the beautiful wilderness and it's wildlings, anyone who watches these movies and doesn't let the message sink into their bones, (especially when we're in the beginning stages of a climate collapse BC people refuse to go vegan to save their own lives and the one planet we have to live on) it makes me wonder why the hell they're on this planet to begin with. You don't have to react to them all, but if you do, you won't regret it.

Aw, man. I'm a middle sibling, and I have two brothers. We got on each others nerves so much as kids and teens, but we're cool now as adults. Sitka not being there as a human to enjoy a peaceful adulthood with his brothers is beyond tragic. A mistake, followed by a misunderstanding caused such a horrible accident, and it was impossible to mend until it was too late for one of them. Kenai was reckless, and Denahi was a troll, but I bet they could have moved past it with maturity. Now one's a human, the other's a spirit, and the other is an animal. As uplifting as the ending was with Kenai taking care of Koda, the break-up of those brothers is still bittersweet.

My grandson’s favorite movie when he was a toddler was Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron. I know I watched it at least 100 times over 2-3 years. I haven’t watched it in probably 16 years but I guarantee I would still know every word spoken by every character, & I would still be able to sing every lyric to every song proudly. Those memories make my heart smile!

as a native this is one of my fav films. it especially reminds me of my grandma and aunt who’ve passed and their traditional names really showed who they became in the afterlife whenever they want to visit the living. my grandmas was “small quail” and my aunts was “strong hawk”. there would be times i’ll be going on my morning runs on the reservation i live at and i’ll come across a quail or a hawk watching me or tagging along so i always say “hi grandma, hope you’re doing good” or “wanna accompany me on my runs auntie?” so it’s always reassuring and fun just saying hi to them and telling them to give my love to our family from the ancestral place ❤

in ojibwe culture, the bear actually represents courage! Also it’s the eagle that means love :) I think the tribe in the movie is based on west coast tribes and the Inuit, so the researchers probably found different teachings, but I think the ojibwe teachings are also fitting (they’re known as the ‘seven grandfather teachings’ if you want to look into them)

This movie is a masterpiece. It's so touching and hilarious too. It's close to my heart. All three of the brothers had such important stories/lessons to tell. I remember as a kid, crying snot and all when Koda and Kenai were speaking at the end especially because i didn't realize 😂💀

It's one of the few Disney Movies I absolutely enjoyed and sometimes rewatch despite it coming out when I was already an adult. The visuals, the comedy, the emotional development and the music is something that will touch people of any age.

I'm a national park ranger in Alaska and deal with bears all the time, which my 3 year old nephew thought was SO awesome, like I was definitely the coolest auntie. Then he saw just the beginning of this movie and now he forces my sister to let him call me once a week to make sure I'm still alive and a "bad bear didn't get me." This movie is Hella dark for kids, ESPECIALLY if they have park ranger aunties lol

I haven't seen this movie in years. I loved it as a kid. I love that Phil Collins and Tina Turner sang a couple of songs in this movie. Phil Collins did the soundtrack for Tarzan. Rick Moranis is the voice of one of the moose.

#Bingers Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron - I watched that movie so many times as a kid and then a few years ago I rediscovered it as an adult and I shit you not I watched it like 4 days in a row after work. It always felt very empowering and encouraging so I highly recommend checking this one out (mind you the one that came out in 2002, not the newer remakes/tv show)

brother bear was the first disney movie i ever watched (and afaik the first movie period that i ever watched, at least, according to my parents), and as a result, ive had a soft spot for it from day one. and sitka's death? still hurts me. when he looks up, almost accepting that hes gonna not kill the bear and just end up killing himself, just wanting to keep his brothers safe? gets me every time. that was my mufasa lbr
