there's nothing like hearing Steve playing LIVE while he's standing right in front of you. no recording can completely do him justice it's like taking a ride right along with him aboard an inter-dimensional UFO, except with the Knaggs label on the headstock, it is identified. so I suppose it's an IFO ride in fact...

This song from the album "Whiplash Smile" was an homage to the roots and sound style of 1950's Rock 'n Roll/Rockabilly originators, namely Elvis Presley himself who was known to carry pistols on his person and was presented with an honorary FBI badge from J.Edgar hoover himself. The chorus features vocal stylings heard in many of Elvis' songs as well as other singers like Gene Vincent and Johnny Ray (who are mentioned by name near the end of the song) as well as Little Richard. "Don't Need A Gun" along with the majority of songs on Whiplash Smile emulated the style of the 1950's in keeping with the album's theme slogan: "Return to Splendor" (itself a take on Elvis's "Return to Sender")

I recall listening to this one on then Radio Station 92.3 EON FM in Melbourne in 1987 when it was first released. The radio station changed to Triple M FM 105.1 Radio in late 1988. This song is just as great now as it was back then.

I love when the videoclip makes justice to the song. This is completely aesthetic! Look at the lights, shadows and clothes. It's just like a film.

This is without a doubt the freeking coolest video from the 80's. The way Steve Stevens shadows Billy Idol throughout with his awesome guitar work brings it up to another level.
