anyone notice how much clearer you can hear the piano in these old performances? nowadays the band is always set much louder than the piano, you really get to hear the true genius in his writing with these older shows
@youareon94 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I do noticed it. Totally agree with you. Piano sound is really same as album, how awesome Billy is.
@JLorz843 жыл бұрын
He lost part of his speed and accuracy through the years, maybe now he prefers to manage his performance in a more efficient and relaxed way, leaning more on the band to carry on the whole concert, and piano comes out clearly only in solo parts. But yeah, back in the days, his level of playing-singing was outstanding.
@carlbaumeister34392 жыл бұрын
Two things: 1. In 1982, he had a serious motorcycle accident that damaged his hands. It interrupted the production of The Nylon Curtain, bc it took several months to recover. Some of his playing dexterity was permanently damaged; 2. When he switched from Phil Ramon to Mick Jones as his producer, his sound became noticeably louder, busier, fuller. Although I enjoy those latter-career albums, I prefer the production of the earlier albums. I’ve seen him in concert three times. Two of them were in the “old days,” and the shows were incredible; the most-recent time was about 4 years ago, and the sound was, IMHO, just too noisy, with too many musicians and backup singers on stage-overproduced.
@felicerucci54472 жыл бұрын
