My Mavic Mini combo arrived late yesterday afternoon. I have a Mavic Pro and a Mavic 2 Pro, so i was able to get everything setup easily, but it took SO LONG to charge up the 3 batteries for the first time, I wasn't able to fly it yesterday. I did do some static video and photos outside, and they were amazing quality. I did notice that the color of the shirt I was wearing was not quite right, but everything else seemed O.K. I know that light reflected from some materials do not look the same to a camera as to the eye. Today I plan to get out my old Television color chart and do some video of that to see what is really going on. I also hope to get in some flying time today. This little guy is so amazing. I really do appreciate you taking the time to make these videos as I am sure they will be a great benefit for beginners buying their first drone.

Superb Video Billy....As a certified Advanced drone pilot in Spain then i am going to buy this MAvic Mini to add to my DJI fleet. Its GPs and size will make it ideal for using for fun rather than using my usual commercial drones and with the public in Spain and certainly the police authorities still not understanding the usefulness of drones and legal aspects, we, as commercial certified operators still have to operate with the knowledge that even when operating commercially. Its amazing how the police authorities still have no idea of our legal rights to fly as operators.

Why drone calibration is important and Do I need to calibrate my drone everytime I go out and want to fly? 2. Can I fly my drone from the top of 22 floor building? If yes, how will the drone calculate the height from ground? 3. I will be using UAV forecast app, do I include wind gust criterion to take fly or no fly decision?? Appreciate your time.

Please be very careful!! Don't want you to have the same issue I just discovered. I just purchased this drone and discovered that my tablet I wanted to use (larger screen for me) and my Android phone both don't work with the Mavic Mini. Even though both are well over Android ver 6.0 that I saw as a must. They are both a few yrs old but well known Samsung devices, not some off the wall clone etc. I contacted support and was directed to their supported device list. Kinda hidden if you ask me. It didn't have many supported items listed (Under 50). That's a very small number when you think of all the manufacturers of phones/tablets over the last 5 yrs. I hope they quickly improve this list.... I don't want to spend a bunch to get a new phone or tablet. That's why I purchased the mavic mini.....

Great video tutorial for the Mavic Mini. Just started flying mine (also own a Mavic Pro 2). I’m impressed with the Mini, but noticed something odd. If I have the camera pointed straight down and then start to move forward or backwards the gimbal jerks up about 10 degrees on its own after some movement. I tried recalibrating the gimbal but that didn’t help. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it’s something just related to my particular drone?

If the altitude displayed, indicates height above initial take off location , how do you know actual altitude of drone over a distant location? It could be 100’ over my takeoff location, but really only be 30’ above a hill 500 yards out? Does one simply have to judge by eye or camera view?

Excellent review, thank you, Billy, just one question, if you purchase the combo, with three batteries, what is the battery life of the fully charged remote control, as I imagine it would be impossible to charge it while it's connected to your phone? I'm thinking you are on your third battery, in flight, and now you are wondering whether the charge in your remote control will last for potentially 90 minutes! Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks

Much have been discussed of the merits of many photo drones but it seems no one has ever reviewed the effects of rain or sudden squall that may suddenly occur while the drone is flying out of sight. Am conscious about moisture getting into electronics of remote-controlled aircrafts as I have flown them and have adhered to avoiding the urge to fly during these weather conditions.

Billy I've learned a lot from your videos. I have a quick question. I live on the very top of a 1900 foot hill. Let pretend I launch from the top of the hill and set my return to home at 200 feet to clear the trees on the top of the hill. Let's say I venture out down hill and now the drone is hovering below me at 300 feet (1600) feet below my home altitude. If the return to home is activated at 1600 feet below me. Will the drone increase its altitude to 1900 feet + 200 Feet and come home or will it get confused and go 300 ft + 200ft and crash at the side of the hill. I am hoping the return to home altitude is the launch coordinates 1900 ft plus 200 ft RTH settings. 2100 ft flight path.

I use an iPad mini with it and its perfect. You have to buy an adapter but I feel like a full size iPad would be too heavy to hold the full 30 minute flight. I have multiple battery’s so if I’m out there for more than an hour with the iPad mini it starts to get a little heavy.
