Thanks for showing this. My 7.3l has a similar lift to yours and the knock-off pro-comp shocks that the previous owner put on it are incredibly stiff. I mean I feel EVERYTHING from the road. Glad to see the 5100's do improve the ride quality.

Great video, thanks. For my '06 F250 SD FX4 (110,000 miles), I'm planning a major ride upgrade... 4 new shocks, new 2-way steering damper, and Sulastic spring shakles... should make a big difference in the ride, and will provide an important layer of protection for all other suspension components.

I live in Southern California and love the upper northwest, Washington bear Spokane where I have family and also want to go into Alaska except this year it look like the pandemic will keep me from making it. Those are the same as the old ones that were on the truck when I got it and I’m think no Ing new ones make it ride better. I was also told to remove my sway bar unless I’m towing because it keeps it a bit stiff the mechanic said. Good job

Right on! Those are what the older Toyota Tacoma TRD's have been getting for years... However; now come to find out that the new Toy TRD's are getting Fox Reservor's in a 2.5 shaft and larger housing! Hey did your 5100 shock come with a metal sleeve inside the bushing on the top part of the shock for the front? I just purchased mine from 4 wheel parts today the front shocks have a metal sleeve inside the top and bottom bushing. I called them and they said it was the right shock. If you can please let me know because I need help!!! Thanks!
@alwaysup2late6 жыл бұрын
Sure thing, I just looked back at pictures I took to make sure. The top only has rubber bushings meant to slide on to the stud at the top. The bottom has a metal sleeve for the bolt to slide through. Is your truck around the same 99-04? These threw me at first because they are mounted shock boot down, but there is a sleeve only on the bottom end of the shock

alwaysup2late my truck is a 2001 f250 platinum edition 4x4 4dr with the 7.3.
@codyschaver12006 жыл бұрын
alwaysup2late yes I knew they mounted shock down because a friend of mine installed some on his 2012 f250. I read up that the 5100 series are for lifted trucks and the 4600 is for factory height trucks. 4 wheel parts had a discussion on it and they said the 4600 and 5100 are the same except one is for lifted and the other is for stock applications. My truck is factory height.
@alwaysup2late6 жыл бұрын
Ok, we're dealing with the same thing. I uploaded the picture I took here: imgur.com/nM4RZMu You can see both sides of the front shocks. Boot end has the sleeve and the top end has only rubber bushings to slide on to the stud

@donrollo73295 жыл бұрын
I called Bilstein direct and they told me the boots go down. The reason they gave is the boots have drain holes in them and if any debris is around the shaft it would drain out the bottom.
@alwaysup2late4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the update, that makes really good sense to me. Going to keep mine that way for sure now
@poolej4christ4 жыл бұрын
My boots have drain holes on both sides for the rear. On Bilstein website it says you always want to install our application specific B6 4600 and B8 5100 shocks so the Bilstein labeled on the shock body is reading in the correct orientation. If your shocks have been installed with the stickers on upside down then the shocks should be flipped the other way.
