My OEM HeadUnit was a basic feature and i installed a VIN pre-coded Headuni- Retrofit into my car and after that the BIMMERCODE app does not have access to my HeadUnit or is features. The only way out for me to enable/disable features is via the eSys feature.

Hey Ben great videos! But I have a question… at your instruction, I’ve now retrofitted my 2018 Mini Cooper with Apple CarPlay. Now I’ve gotten a veepeak OBD-II scan tool and attempted with BimmerCode app to enable the acoustic sig. for the lock/unlock but BimmerCode gives me an error that all third party retrofitted install devices need to be reversed. Any chance you have a suggestion to bypass undoing all the lovely dashboard pulling required to revert back to before I installed the CarPlay device behind the head unit? (Grrrr I don’t really wanna yank all of that apart again) Thanks!

Hey! Thank you 😊 I must admit I’ve not come across this issue as of yet. I’ve recently done a bit of coding myself and haven’t encountered any issues. I can’t seem to understand why the CarPlay module would cause any issues as it hasn’t anything to do with the BDC (body domain controller) which controls the audible beep when locking and unlocking. I’d advise removing the CarPlay module and giving the coding another go.

Yeah I see where your coming from. You can use it to also scan and clear fault codes which is another reason I opted to purchase it.

I've purchased the full version it doesn't work on mini it is fitted with an alarm but it doesn't give active option only deactivate and not assigned the audible sound isn't in my settings either on the I drive

Hey 👋 as far as I’m aware this isn’t something you can enable. The horn should only sound if you lock the car and the door is slightly open

Hey 👋 unfortunately not as the clutch as to be depressed to start the engine. I think with the new automatic MINIs you can start it using the MINI app, but I’m not 100%

Hi Ben Love the channel. I have a 2015 jcw three door. I've just bought the iCar Vgate OBD professional solution from SMPS I have downloaded the full Bimmer code app to my phone. The problem Im having is it won't connect. Have you any advice that might help. Is there any other downloads i need to get? Thanks

Ben, I have a question. When you programmed the code, you received a tyre pressure warning. That's normal, right? After you've programmed to the ECU, is it right that you often get a (random) error-message? And you can disregard it, right?

Hey 👋 this car actually had a low tyre pressure which is why the warning came on.

@@BenRolfe Ok thank you Ben. I just did my first programming in Bimmercode and received a warning which I never had before. I've read in the Bimmercode FAQ that it's possible that error messages may appear and can be disregarded. Only thing I was unsure of, is that I received the warning after the ECU restarted. But it was only once, and everything seems fine now. I even programmed a 2nd option just now, and the error massage hasn't appeared again, so I reckon everything is fine. Cheers and thanks!

Hey, if you were looking to retrofit the OEM display this would cost around £400, however, companies like eBay and AliExpress sell 3rd party displays which run some form of Android and run CarPlay or Android Auto.
