I just purchased 4 more suppressors in November 2023, Trust and E-file with Silencer Central, got my approval on all 4 of them January 20th 2024. Not too shabby considering my first batch of suppressors took 14 months, paper file trust.

Right on! There’s good efficient workers in the ATF and the batch is real! I got a batch approval in May 2019 for 11 items submitted over 8 months. Three Form 1’s got mailed to my house, seven Form 4’a to one gun shop and one Form 4 to another. You got awesome turnaround time! What did you get? I’m waiting on a Velos LBP from July, a Mask and Oculus from Halloween, and a Scythe that I just Docusigned for. Always hoping for another batch approval :)

Thank you! To make a SBR, you’ll first need to make an account at eforms.atf.gov Use a laptop or computer for the entire process, not a cell phone or you’ll get errors. You’ll create a user name, password and four digit pin. (The password will need to be updated once a year.) Keep all that info safe and written down for future uses. You’ll need it for the tax stamp payment. This is a good walk through video after you have an account created. It helped me when I couldn’t make the payment because it let me know my computer was blocking the payment pop up window. I should also add that when you make a sbr out of a pistol, you become a manufacturer for that firearm. Before you can attach the stock, and I do it while the form is pending so it will be ready, you have to have your first and last name, or trust name depending if you submitted the form 1 as an individual or a trust, and your city and state. You’re creating a legacy when making a sbr. MP5’s engraving is on the metal upper part of the receiver. I had this one done underneath where the stock is collapsed. (AR15’s are engraved on the lower receiver). It has to be a certain depth and size. Some laser engraving machines won’t do it deep enough like at a trophy shop. I usually get mine machine shop style engraved. It usually goes for about $45. Ask a local gunshop where a good place to get it done is and where on your gun to do it.

Excellent review! Are you using the Dead Air tri lug mount? Did you have any play/wobble when mounting the Wolfman on the MKE using their tri lug adapter?

Thanks! Yes, it’s Dead Air’s original tri lug mount. It goes on easy, but has some twist play when locked because they were planning on having it compatible with a future 45 tri lug. (It doesn’t affect accuracy at 9mm distances.) The version that’s out now and has been out for a while, locks up tight without any twist because it’s strictly made for 9mm lugs throughput. I’ve been thinking about getting one for my ocd lol

I brought it to a gunshop that has a high powered laser. They do NFA engraving and custom detailing to any depth and style on metal or other materials. It’s better than machine engraving on plastic. That’s the only high powered laser near me.

Have you run many hollow points through your various MP-5s? Looking to pick up an AP-5 for fun but want it to pull double duty as HD. Heard they sometimes don't like JHPs.

I’ve used Freedom Munitions 135 grain HP rounds, and they were fine. I think they have a decent taper before the hollow point starts. Some old Winchester, 147 grain Flat point rounds didn’t feed in my MPA 930 DMG and I forget if I tried them in a MP5. I don’t any flat points anymore and I’d watch out for hollow points with a wide mouth.

Did you end up switching out the locking piece on the bolt to run the suppressor?

Nope :) I didn’t check, but this full size MP5 should have the 100 degree locking piece in it and it’s suitable for subs and supers, suppressed and unsuppressed. If one has the AP5-P, then you probably should try it with and without a suppressor with subs and supers first. If you’re having failures, try an 80 degree LP next, but some say it’s not necessary unless you’re shooting full auto. I tried an 80 degree LP in my DJ Getz MP5K, but the bolt gap went way out of spec even with -8 rollers. I wound up going with a 100 degree LP for it and it runs really good binary with and without a suppressor with subs and supers now and doesn’t show any roller marks on the receiver. Bottom line, the full size MP5’s are fine. The MP5K’s might need individual attention because of different tolerances in the guns, suppressor back pressure differences and ammo pressures.

Do they have flat face aftermarket trigger for the Mp5? Thats one of the only things that has stopped me from getting one dont need the binary just know the stock trigger sucks lol.

The closest to a flat trigger is the Timney two-stage MP5 trigger. It’s got a pretty mellow curve. It’s got a 2 pound first stage and a 2 pound second stage. It’s probably the best precision trigger for this gun. The Franklin Armory binary trigger has a lighter pull than the stock trigger. Probably 4-5 pounds instead of 7-8.

I just saw this video. It costs a bit, but not a whole lot more than a binary trigger. Lee Sporting makes a trigger housing for the MP5 and MP5K that takes AR15 triggers and safety selector. They have both shelf style trigger housings and push pin style. They have three triggers to select from on their website. Give them a call to see if a flat one you like can be used. Using Hush 165 grain subs with the Wolfman on this AP5, it’s a little quieter than my MP5SD with TPM Outfitters, now Hitec Arms, suppressor using NATO speed Federal American Eagle 1250 fps ammo that gets slowed to subsonic speeds. I’ve heard the B&T SD suppressor is a bit quieter, but more back pressure. The Wolfman on the AP5 is longer than the SD, so there’s more barrel and volume for suppression which makes sense. @@Dan67518 my MP5SD is a TPM Outfitters factory sbr. I got a DJ Getz Mp5K first, then an Omega MP5, then the SD. 100%, the SD is my favorite! It’s a little work to clean the aluminum baffles every 3 to 500 rounds to make it easy but it’s worth it. Really amazing because you don’t have to clean a Wolfman.
