Indeed! This is ultra reliable and has cheap, cross compatible 9mm ammo with a pistol. The price is nicer than MP5’s years ago as well. It takes a newcomer a bit to learn the manual of arms, but it’s a proven firearm with history.

Thank you! Suppressed is the way to go for your first MP5. My first MP5 was a MP5K so I got a SilencerCo Omega 9K for it and it’s binary too. AP5P is the best price out there. The Shield SMS2 is my favorite for viewing through. Here’s another video I just made that shows a difference with a Holosun 407C on a HK Parts mount verses the SMS2. Thanks, it’s really a delayed roller lock though 👊 More gas out the barrel instead of ejection port. MP5’s are great for suppressing and being quiet at your ear. They also get dirty suppressed, but still run :)

Thanks! I got the backpack for free when Remington had a promotion going in 2018 before the bankruptcy. I bought my 870 SBS shotgun new from Capital Armory and it actually qualified for the promo. It’s a pretty cool, compact backpack.

It’s a B&T side folding stock. It fits in the receiver very tight. It takes a tug-o-war to remove it from the receiver. It’s a little shorter than the Choate stock that’s on my DJ Getz MP5K. Lol The National Firearms Act of 1934 says we need an ATF Form 1 approved and a $200 stamp to put a stock on it. It was a pistol when I bought it, but now it’s a short barrel rifle, and I like it even more :)

Nope. I just got the binary trigger and I also bought a ejector lever, ejector lever spring and ejector lever axle so I could keep the factory trigger pack complete. I’ve got a huge roller lock collection and sometimes I’ve bought kits that included a spare ejector lever and spring with the gun as a deal.

What makes it an SBR? Is it the grip, because I thought the pistol brace was fine.

@@chocolateshogun2511 I registered it as a sbr because I wanted a stock for it. That let me add the vertical grip if I wanted to also. It looks more proper to me, it’s comfortable and it’s solid construction. If you want to register it as an AOW (any other weapon) also an option on an ATF Form 1, you could add a vertical grip and use a brace. Hey man idk if you’ll see this one! But im looking into getting the Franklin armory binary for my ap5-p I’ve heard you need a different “lower” for it to fit is this true or can I just slap it in!

Slap it in my friend lol It’s a direct fit. All you do is adjust the front hight adjustment screw on the binary pack for proper fit. There’s pretty good instructions and an installation video here on KZbin. You’ll transfer the ejector lever, ejector lever axle and ejector lever spring from your existing trigger pack or you can purchase them separately so you keep yours complete. The AP5-P has the same lower/trigger housing as this AP5-M. I just get all my MKE lowers third position engraved to have an official looking spot for the binary function. Not sure if you know about the Franklin triggers for B&T but would the regular Franklin AR-C1 work in a GHM9 or do I need to specific BT Franklin triggers ? Asking because I know the ghm9 uses AR pattern triggers

Franklin Armory’s website shows the BT-C1 trigger works for the APC9, APC45, GHM9, GHM45 and SPC9. You might give them a call to see if the AR types would work, but it looks like the BT version is guaranteed to. I’ve got the BT-C1 in my APC45 ;)

It’s a Shield SMS/RMS Mount Plate MP5. You can get it with or without the SMS2 sight included. I just bought another mount from Shooting Surplus for a good price and then a SMS2 sight with the 8 moa version glass lens from Optics Planet for another MP5 I just got. I got this Shield SMS2 polymer lens 4 moa mount/sight combo for a few of my MP5’s from Atlantic Firearms when they had a flash sale. The SMS/RMS footprint of the mount doesn’t give you as many options for different sights. I had to bring all of the mounts to a gunsmith to have him install them on my MP5’s too. I’ve got a new video showing three MP5 sight mounting options that can take RMR footprint sights, SMS/RMS and Aimpoint footprint as well you might be interested in, but I do like the low profile of the Shield sights the best kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXrScmivnbd_a7csi=g_0JGVCrrIOnxxN6

Unfortunately no. MP5 barrels are pressed and pinned in. It would take time and money to have a special gunsmith to do the work. They are a great price. Atlantic Firearms has the same K model AP5-P, but with 3-lug and threaded barrel. Add to cart for a better price and get a free kit, bit still more than the AP5-M.

I ve got a question for you. In my ap5p I run suppressed a lot. I ve got a 80 degree locking lug in it. Man! That is so soft shooting. It functions. 100% with and with out a can with that locking lug. Will this K variant ,After break in, function with an 80 degree? The change in recoil impulse was very noticeable and desirable to me in the Ap5p

That’s a good question and I’m not sure. 80° locking pieces were made to run heavier subsonic bullets I believe suppressed. They hold the rollers closed a little longer than a 100 degree or higher as you know. Going binary with an 80 degree LP might slow the rate of fire a bit. I would think it could still cycle soft and reliably. I actually have an 80 degree locking piece I’ll try to try on it in time for you and me now ;)

Please try it out. Mine at first wouldn’t cycled reliably unsuppressed. But maybe 300 rounds with a suppressor it broke it in. My Ap5p is very reliable with all ammo with a 80 degree locking lug now. . I am somewhere north of 6k on it now. All ammo types it runs fine, can on or off. I am curious if that little bit of barrel length is needed for the “dwell time??” If k could get this k to shot as soft as my p. K could justify it in my mind that I need this model as well. Sorry to enlist you into my mental gymnastics!

@@caseysmith8831 I finally got out for you. Here’s the news. I switched to the RCM 80 degree locking piece and got a bolt gap of 0.020 without changing the rollers. I’m not sure about a difference in recoil impulse because I was getting a failure to eject after every round and shot about 10 rounds. Closing the bolt gap with smaller rollers might fix that. (I was going to see about your bolt gap before changing my rollers out.) I switched back to the stock locking piece and my bolt gap is 0.015, the sweet spot in the middle of the range. I shot a few in semi auto, then binary, then dumped the rest of the mag in binary flawlessly. Mine has been reliable since the start with no break in except for some mags that seemed to hang up with about 10 rounds left in them. I’ve been using American Sniper 124 grain, pretty fast ammo.

It’s a Dragon Tracker backpack I got, while Remington was doing a promotion if you bought an 870 shotgun. I got the 870 short barrel shotgun from Capitol Armory and the promotion was good for it. That was more than five years ago I think.

@@kipsteed3287 I bought the K model first before all my other MP5s to suppress with an Omega 9k. The stock on the MP5K folds easier and works in my shoulder harness. The M is cooler if you’re not suppressing it. It’s shorter and runs cleaner without a suppressor. Folding into a backpack is a better fit.

Did the shield sms2 require anything to mount?

I’ve got them on four of my MP5’s now. I brought them to a gunsmith because I couldn’t do it. The first was on my TPM Outfitters MP5SD and he milled a bit of material from underneath the mount and barely touched the feet instead of doing any work to my gun. The next two were my Omega MP5N and DJ Getz MP5K. He said he found an easier way to do it, and it cost me a lot less. With this one, I still tried to use a soft mallet and rock it on, but wound up, sending it to him as well. I’m not sure what he did for the last couple, but it was beyond my abilities.

It’s American Sniper 124 grain, the Chris Kyle brand made in the Czech Republic. Good stuff as far as I can tell. I like 124 grain for all my MP5’s and pistols. Stock locking piece is correct. Thanks for asking. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Nice! I just recently did the 500rd break-in on mine, Winchester 124gr NATO. It was what I could find timely, ran great with one FTE. I have the same binary, but have yet to install it. Did you carry over your ejector lever, spring and locking pin? Or did you replace with German parts?

@@DaleHyder nice job doing the official break-in! I’ve just used mine as I’ve been filming and it’s working out. I’ve got multiple MKE AP5-M’s and AP5’s. I got a free parts kit when purchased that had Turkish ejector levers and ejector lever springs for some and the others I bought US ejector levers because they were the cheapest and also got ejector lever springs and ejector lever axles that were made in the US to keep the factory trigger packs complete.

I ordered all German parts for what I thought I was going to couple with the Binary. I’ve decided to just let everything stay together with the binary. When the time comes to replace worn parts, I’ll do all German together. Then eventually do the MAD Max Bolt head.

I got an AP5 that is a sbr and I went with an A3 stock to have a second MP5 and the other one has an A2 stock. I’m now waiting for my Form 1 AOW approval on another AP5-M. No adapter needed, it slides right in with a firm push. It holds in with the same two small push pins as the end plate would. Just get your ATF Form 1 stamp approved and engraving first before attaching it.

They should absolutely be faster with K versions, just like the machine guns, because of the shorter bolt, bolt travel, and higher degree locking piece which makes the rollers unlock quicker. It’s amazing how fast Bobby Degnan makes his MP5-N go though. I’m not yet to 1000 rounds with this gun yet. I’m hoping that when the trigger springs and recoil rod spring get broken in more, it’ll speed up the rate of fire. Adding a suppressor seemed to help with my K that has a 3-Lug barrel and my SD really does excellent. I just got a new MKE AP5 sbr that I need to try out as well to see if it’s the same rate of fire as my other Omega MP5-N. I’ve also been curious if the bolt gap makes much of a difference and if the hight adjustment screw in the front of the Franklin Armory binary pack makes a difference in the rate of fire. Lots more testing is needed :)

@@thegunbox81 I’ve already got a K with 3-Lug and Omega 9K, so quiet with subs. This AP5-M is a great price and cheaper supers will always run through it. Supers make the binary run faster as well. I’m always surprised how short my guns are without suppressors on them. This is cool like that.

It’s an acronym for short barrel rifle. After you submit an ATF Form 1 and receive it back, along with engraving your name, or trust name, city and state, you may only then put a stock and vertical grip on the pistol changing the type of firearm to a sbr.

@@Q..M I’m creating a legacy engraving my name on all of my sbr’s and sbs’s. I’m now a unique manufacturer, and even have a KZbin channel. I have around 20 in my collection. It’s a small price to pay compared to what it used to be when the NFA first came out. I’m not going risk my collection by not having them approved. I can take them to gun ranges. If I passed away when a stock was installed and not approved and my family didn’t know about it, they could be in serious trouble when they traded them in. I’m making them how they should be. No ghey braces for me lol I’ll have a nice nest egg also for when I retire.
