God has entrusted me with three boys. They eat from the same pot, but they are different. With our first, I thought I was in control, then the second one came and made me realize how much I needed God. As a first generation born again Christian mom, sometimes I get tempted, trying too hard to be the best mother, but I'm learning to let go of things only God can do, and concentrate on what I can do. As a parent I think I should do what the Word of God tells me to do, but leave the results to God. Some of the seed may not show fruit now, but when they are older. Our children, just like us have a will too. I'm trusting God to help me not to be a stumbling block, or the one to make their hearts hard towards Him. Thanks for sharing and your dedication.

"Do not weary in doing good" The Lord has been teaching me in this season of life that even when we parent right, it doesnt mean we will get the fruit of that labor from our children outright. Doing what is right in the sight of the Lord is our duty even when our hearts break from wayward children. Loved this episode, it has lifted my spirits ❤️

@@sarahparis8235 I know, I live in America, I heard in the 1900s up until mid 1900s they had etiquette and homemaking classes mandatory for women in schools. And of course I’m sure it was based on Bible principles. I took cooking classes in school in the late 2000s but it was one semester. I wish they had it for the kids these days. We could use it for this generation ❤️
@sarahparis823511 ай бұрын
@@LtrishaMartina It's actually cruel that this education isn't provided for children/young adults. I was journaling about this last night -- How you'd never put a young woman into a white jacket and send her straight into an operation if she wanted to be a brain surgeon -- She'd go to school first and learn about the job, and in doing so decide if she's really up to it -- But people think nothing of putting a girl in a white dress and sending her into marriage/motherhood with little to zero preparation. I grew up in a pretty abusive family, so maybe there is more education given to some girls, but I definitely have friends who are eager to get married, but it's all based on the idea of having a Disney style romance where someone loves and basically fawns over them all the time forever -- Which honestly isn't even a mature image of what any relationship should be, let alone a marriage with a mature man. It's no wonder there are so many divorces in our country. Makes perfect sense actually. Praying for you on your journey! 💞💞💞

The build-a-bear analogy reminded me about the Mother of Jesus and how she raised him: She didn't mold him based on how she wanted Jesus to be, because at the end of the day she was raising the Son of God. We are called to raise sons and daughters for God, and God will mold them in the way the He wants.

I totally agree with these concepts! looking back at my own childhood, even being raised in church, I can see how my parents' take on parenting was a miss. My dad never helped with anything in the upkeeping of the home even when my mom was working, and we weren't modeled several aspects that we needed when we reached adulthood. We were told the right things, but I think that the hypocrisy we saw as children was definitely a seed of doubt planted. At the moment, 2 out of the 3 kids are living for the Lord, and 1 is strayed for now. That's not to say that it's "their fault", we are all given a free will! And it's certainly not to say that my God is not big enough to help us heal so we can reconcile and not bleed on our own children. This is gonna be a good book! Glad to see you back sister!

My book just came in today. I slowly read through the intro actually feeling a little skeptical. My thoughts included of course they're my kids; God entrusted them to me. As I continued reading I saw how liberating it is to have the role of ambassador. It is the attitude of trusting God to bless your best efforts. I know I have personally felt so burdened with being a mom. I need to cast my cares upon Him. I need His easy yoke. He leads me and I will follow. Please pray for me and my family.

This video came at such a right time because I was confused if I was taking it too deep by feeling resentment and alienation from my parents because they are unable to see what they have been doing that would just tear me down instead of build me up. It felt strange to me because in my soul I couldn’t fathom how you would treat people you love that way and I felt childish and felt like I had to suppress because its just was what it was and I couldn’t change who my family is. But it made me resentful, bitter and even more childish 😅and now at 25, I can see it for what it was because I allowed God to come into my life, He has been showing me the lie that I was being fed and it is taking time but slowly I am unlearning and undoing that lie from my identity. But thank you for always standing in the truth and bringing me and others this message so that we may know better and be more introspective and not repeat the pattern and be able to see our children’s children grow by the grace of God 🥰

You can't change your parents, but God can. Take it all up to Him in prayer and pray that He will give you peace and joy. He may tap you to be the one to lead the charge to change. Or He may go through some other means. Either way, trust that He can do great things because He is omnipotent and perfectly gracious. I had the same frustrations and I'm amazed that prayers from years ago are yielding fruit now in abundance.

From what you’ve described it sounds like your parents, or at least one of them, were narcissistic. My mother is a narcissist and I was the golden child/empath “the fixer” role in the family. My younger sister was the scapegoat unfortunately, she took a lot of the emotional and psychological beatings her whole life from our mother. I was 32, a mother and wife when I finally found out what a narcissist even was but it has changed so much for me. Father God showed it to me and my sister and have been able to finally begin the healing process. I’m happy to hear that you have been trying to unlearn what your parents made you think about yourself bc it hurts so much. Us children and victims of narcissistic parents have to stay close with our Lord and be willing to learn how to be better parents to our own children. The cycle must end with us🤍

Completely agree with the ending! I would rather work hard, do everything I can and if my child turned out completely different then so be it however I believe it’s 1%. Look at the prodigal son, he made a mistake and learnt his lesson and returned home. The picture of parents and children is the same way our relationship with our Father in Heaven. That’s why it says in proverbs teach your child they way you want them to go and they will never turn from it. Parenting is one of the hardest job I’ve could have ever been assigned knowing these facts that are biblical principles, parents are responsible in the work they are done especially when they are young x

I bring that up because it reminds me so much of what you're talking about in _Single Thread in A Tapestry_ chapter of this video. That book uses the story of Abraham to illustrate *lineage creation* and how to view our family as God designed family in strong contrast to modern Western cultural views of family. I was thinking of you and @Offthebeatenpath. It would be cool if either of you two ladies could review that book also. Have a lovely day, and welcome back. 🙏🏾 ❤

It is not a coincidence that Joseph was taken away from His father Jacob. When he showed favouritism towards Joseph, he started to sow seeds of discord, strife, anger and bitterness in the other siblings and God subsequently took Joseph away. When we are irresponsible in our parenting, we run the risk of losing our children, whether physically, emotionally or otherwise. May God truly help us to remember that our children do not belong to us, they belong to Him and must be raised HIS WAY.
