How neat ! My mothers mom always did her binding this way ! My dad's mom always did square corners 😂 I asked grandma why she rounded corners and she said " its so much easier to replace the binding when its tatty !" She was one of 12 children and born in 1905. She was ill for several years at age 12 and confinto a wheelchair. She minded the children and cooked meals while the older children worked the fields. All the mending and a lot of sewing was her responsibility. She told me she could quilt but didn't really like it ! She was a great baker and loved entertaining and hosted her share of sewing and quilting events! She didn't drive because of her bad leg so she compensated by being a lot of fun .Trust grandma to make a chore easier to do 😂 I learned baking from her and quilting from dads mom! I thought you'd like a bit of history and btw she used a saucer to mark corners and plates for marking baptist fan pattern 🎉❤

Stacey, thank you so much for this wonderful video tutorial! I finally had a chance to sit down and put the binding on a quilt that had been waiting quite a while. I struggled a little bit with joining the strips together because my machine is not as nice as yours, and it was difficult to see that the needle was in the precise spot it needed to be. But I figured a way using a quilt ruler and marking pen. It was smooth sailing from there 😊 I am very pleased with the result, and I appreciate your clear instructions and gentle encouragement. I will be saving the link to this video so I can come back to it whenever I need it again. Thanks again!

Hi Stacey. I watched this video primarily for the rounded corners binding tutorial, which is great...thank you for that. I also noticed your method for joining the ends of the binding. After struggling with the "standard" method for a long time, I watched a video by Nikki Schreiner of Pin Cut Sew Studio where she demonstrated this same, much simpler method on a large hot pad tutorial. I was hooked and have been using it ever since. You are the first person I have seen use this method since that day. Thank you, thank you for showing a simpler method! If you haven't already done so, may I suggest that you do a tutorial specific to doing this method? I have seen lots of comments on other channels from people who struggle just as I did with joining the ends "the other way". Thanks again for the great binding tutorial 👍🏻

I've not tried rounded corners for a quilt but will try it. I do struggle with mitered corners a bit (I am very critical of my work ha!ha!). I am a little apprehensive about using/cutting a biased binding since I've never done that before, must we used a biased binding?

Thank you, Joy! 😊 I’m so glad you’re going to try rounded corners-they’re a great alternative to mitered ones. ❤️ For rounded corners, yes, bias binding is best because it stretches around curves more easily. Don’t worry-it’s easier than it seems, and I’m sure you’ll do great! ✂️✨

Yes, I like this method. I am always disappointed with the back view when I sew down the binding with mitred corners. It’s okay on the back except at the mitred corners. No matter how hard I try, the mitred corner is ugly. It never matches the front and stands out like a sore thumb. Thanks for this excellent suggestion. 🇦🇺🌞Qld

@margorichardson8266 OH. I must have missed the 2 pieces part. I think it's just adorable and would look perfect on a baby or more .... for lack of a better word, "feminine" quilt? I think ya'll know what I mean.
