I remember when Bing died Bob Hope was doing an appearance that night. He cancelled that appearance simply stating "I can't be funny tonight". That may be the best tribute he could have given Bing.

What you are witnessing here is the last public appearance of Hope & Crosby together. Bing was scheduled to be on a Hope special "Bob Hope's Road To Hollywood" airing October 28, 1977 as "payback" for Hope appearing on this show. Bing was to tape his part of the show with Bob immediately upon returning from his trip to Spain. After Bing's death on October 14, Bob shelved the planned 90 minute retrospective of his film career, and replaced it with a 'new' 90 minute special titled "On The Road With Bing", featuring excerpts from their many film & TV appearances together. It aired in the same slot as the originally scheduled 'Hollywood' special...on October 28, 1977.

'An impressive little queue chose' Bing had a wonderful vocabulary, quite surprising for the first mega star of the recording age. The chemistry between these two men was wonderful to see. It is a a lost age, and we were lucky to have caught even a piece of it. Thank you for posting this beauty. Consider yourself subscribed!

Great clip- Hope and Crosby were in a different class than the other comedy duos. This skit was done when they were both in their 70's and still had the same brilliant chemistry and comic timing- amazing.

Bing Crosby would die on a golf course, one of his favorite places, not long after this was filmed. Crosby and Hope were classy and gifted entertainers. If not perfect in their personal lives (who is?), they world's above what passes for talent today.

Bob Hope and Bing Crosby were one of a kind, Hope was a boxer in early life, a good dancer and treated our troops to a touch of home during the worst conditions of war time. As a kid my favorite and still is Christmas album was Bing's, and the little drummer boy skit with David Bowie is a classic in itself.

This is the kind of entertainment I was raised on...good, wholesome fun!Back when we had variety shows and Christmas specials...not a bunch of hoochymama's and vulgar "comedians" tramping all over the T.V screen. Back in those days, families could sit down and watch T.V together...now, you need a PG rating to watch something that passes as entertainment with your kids. My how times have changed...I also miss Andy Williams and the Osmonds.

What the hell was that?, please do yourself a favor and not backup the pressure to your head. If I truly must tell you what that was, the simplest way is by saying, True Class. Compared to what Hollywood is putting out these days. One day I hope you and those like you finally understand how a movie is made without Gore, Mayhem, Sex from man and woman to gay disgustinous. I could go on but my stomach cannot handle it and you anymore.

Sad that Bob Hope could do nothing without cue cards. And obviously.
@RM-eo3uu5 жыл бұрын
Barbara Bassett both Hope and Crosby were 76 or 77 at the time this was done. The fact that they had cue cards has got nothing to do with the great timing that these two close friends and performers had. It was through their close friendship that they were able to give each other those little shots, that made us all laugh. There's nothing like Bob Hope and Bing Crosby today, nothing even close.
@will27414 жыл бұрын
Thing is, no one pointing this out could do anywhere near as good as he could, with or without em, so.

@RM-eo3uu5 жыл бұрын
Retired music educator please find another way of using your time, you obviously know nothing about Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. They used the cue cards as they were both in their mid-70s when this was done. Their timing is impeccable, their close friendship allowed them to give each other shots that we all laughed at. As we watched to see who would get the biggest laugh between the two. We have nothing today that is even close to Bob Hope and Bing Crosby.
