The wonderfully talented Andrew Sisters. Their uncanny and delightful harmony as singers was a joy to listen to.

Wow! What choreography: everyone making the right steps, gestures, etc., at the right time. My first memory was in April of ‘47, at eight months of age, so I’m glad they filmed this so we could enjoy it later! In ‘48 or ‘49 I did recall the sisters singing ‘Aurora’! I couldn’t understand what they were singing at that early age, but the way they sang Aurora caught my ear. 😮🤗👶

Wow! Such talent from Bing and the girls. He was a nifty mover and remembered all the schtick he had to do. The Bob Hope gag was a masterclass in how to make a lot from the briefest appearance. This was such a treat, I know the film we will be watching tonight. Thank you nicoley.

These were icons of their era. Even as a kid, I loved Bob Hope movies. I actually was entranced with my mom's Bing Crosby record, which I played on her record player. I heard the Andrew Sisters on the radio, which my mom always had playing in the kitchen. To me, the current environment is screwy and completely lacks common sense. I've voted Democratic in the past, but no more. I guess I'm a conservative, if I treasure the good things about our country and forgive the bad. We have lots more good things to celebrate than bad. I notice the traffic seems to be from there to here. Not many illegals are sneaking into China. People voting with their feet come here. God bless our country and save it from idiots!

I just LOVE Patty's Ankle Bracelet (which she seemed to wear a lot). They're so sexy on woman. Too bad not many wear them anymore. No disrespect to Bing. But, was anyone watching him during this performance?? The girls are so wonderful that he kind of disappears in the foreground (other than his brief solo dance) and it's hard to take your eyes off of them. :)

+70sRockNRoller I have noticed that ankle bracelet as well.

+BeatnikRampage The funny thing is: I wrote this shortly after becoming a full-on Andrews Sisters fan and hadn't been exposed to much of their material at that point. I didn't realize (as I do now) that all 3 of the girls wore Ankle Bracelets regularly. It's hard to see in Black and White film, though. I can't wait to see the rest of their films. So far, just this one and Buck Privates, Hold That Ghost and In The Navy. It's hard to find their movies these days.
@beatnikrampage69698 жыл бұрын
SLAYER was my favorite group for 28yrs, I'm 45. 3yrs ago I had the pleasure of becoming a full fledged Sisters fan, I'm new to the scene as well. Honestly, my life has become more relaxed now that I listen to them daily (getting old I guess). I know you can find the other movies on amazon/ebay for about $15 a pop.
@70sRockNRoller8 жыл бұрын
+BeatnikRampage Wow! From Slayer to the Andrews Sisters. That's quite a jump! :) As you can probably tell from my avatar, I'm a huge KISS fan (the original lineup) and have been since 1977. I like a lot of their non-makeup stuff, too. But, I don't like this Tribute band they're going around as now. Anyway, I agree. The Andrews Sisters music is very relaxing and uplifting and has helped me get though the bad days. You just can't help but feel good after listening to/watching them perform one of their songs. I love Patty's spirit and playfulness. I Love them all. But, Patty's my favorite. :) I'm know I could get those other movies from E-bay or Amazon.com. But, I'm hoping that someone remasters them like they did with Buck Privates, Hold That Ghost and In The Navy. I'd only want to buy their other movies if it were a good, clean copy.

Supposing you need a vacation Brazil is the place you should be But you don't understand What they're saying Or you can't read a sign that you see But, you don't have to know the language With the moon in the sky And the girl in your arms And a look in her eyes You stop at the Copacabana With the Sugar Loaf mountain in view So the words on the menu mean nothing You can't ask a soul what to do But, you don't have to know the language With the moon in the sky And the girl in your arms And a look in her eyes When she smiles your way What more would you want anyone to say So you sigh, just sigh You don't have to mention That Yankee phrase: "Ay, ay" Perhaps when you end your vacation You bring back a bit of Brazil So you can't understand What she's saying You need an interpreter still But you don't have to know the language If you don't want to say good-bye With the moon in the sky And a girl in your arms And a look in her eyes No you don't have to know You don't have to know The language isn't necessary 'Cause the meaning doesn't very The language isn't necessary When she smiles your way What more would you want anyone to say So you sigh just sigh You don't have to mention That Yankee phrase: "Ay, Ay" So perhaps when you end your vacation You bring back a bit of Brazil But you can't understand What she's saying You need an interpreter still But you don't have to know the language If you don't want to say good-bye
