What’s happening in this Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw movie clip?
Hobbs recites a Samoan rite to prepare him and his community to fight Brixton and his troops. But they have weapons that seem far more effective than the hands of Samoas. Fortunately, Hattie manages to disable the machines that become useless. Hobbs gives a sign to Shaw, who surrounds the fighters with a wall of fire. Brixton asks for the helicopter to be sent, and the battle begins. Many blows are exchanged. Hattie barely gets caught but she is saved by her brother, and they manage to defeat their enemies and flee before Hattie's bomb explodes. Unfortunately, the blast brings them to the ground, and Hattie is captured by helicopter as soon as she comes to her senses by Brixton and her troops.

That’s not a haka. It’s actually based on the Siva Tau (Samoan war dance). The Rock actually speaks Samoan (albeit his pronunciations are crude) in the film. The Samoan rugby team have their own Siva Tau before every match. The Maori incorporate a lot more facial expressions and stick out their tongues when they perform the haka. Edit: Roman Reigns and Dwayne Johnson are both part Samoan. I believe Jason Momoa is Hawaiian.

Shaw's sister has a virus in her that can kill half of humanity. She is getting a blood dilation to filter it out of her blood stream while Hobb's family helps to fight off the bad guys who want the virus. Bad guys have super tech guns that require a registered handprint to remove the safety. They jammed the guns connection to the database so the guns cant compare their handprints against the one on file because Hobb's mom sold all their guns and they have to fight with traditional weapons so they need to even the playing field.

When I saw a snippet of this scene in the trailer I absolutely knew there had to be some gimmick that would put the fight in The Rock's favor.
