The Neverland feast from Hook holds a special place in all our hearts, memories, and "You're a 90s Kid If..." lists on Buzzfeed. I've been resisting making the neon-colored pies, despite their being hotly requested, for some time - namely because I think they're just pie shells filled with whipped cream. But this week, more than most weeks, we're using our imaginations!

The dough wouldn't rise because there is no yeast in it. Letting it rest in the fridge is so the dough firms up and doesn't tear as easily. But that would be a plot twist :)

This is easily my favorite episode. I was perfectly content to watch the first pie be built, following along with my own imagination, and only had a jarring feeling when he began to pour the batter into the pie crust (just ever so slightly burnt on the edges). But, the crust was missing! An empty pan lay before him. "Babish no!" I cried, "where's the crust?!" Then I remembered the crust must be there, (obviously Babish would not pour the batter into an empty pan) and imagination resumed. The pan going out of sight confused my imagination, I guess. 😅
