been on a mono for like 6 days now. I see why people want bino - but i also see how beneficial it is to have one eye adjusted to ambient lighting. Its insanely appearantly if you run a mono for like 40 minutes. Turn it off, get it out of your vision - then alternate blinking eyes. If you had both eyes acclimated to binos and then had to take them off - you are going to be so much more "blind" than a mono in the same situation. I knew this before getting anything - but seeing how dramatic of a difference it makes is a real - eye opener.

DUDES! thanks for the advice! I am definitely on-the-fence between a very good $4,900 PVS-14 and a decent $7,900 DTNVS . Budget is definitely a big factor. However, I keep telling myself that I can pay-once-cry-once with a DTNVS and save up for the accessories later on in the year. So if I get PVS-14, I'd have money to get the full ballistic helmet, mount, ear-pro, IR light/laser, etc. I also like the idea of bridging a thermal with the PVS-14 for hunting purposes. This way I'm not constricted to just using night vision and having to change platform entirely when wanting to use thermal for those HOGS! THanks ya'll I think I've made up my decision, PVS-14 with a good tube!.

Smart move. Having a more complete set of kit makes sense. I just ordered a Z-Bolt IR laser illuminator for my NV rifle. It behaves the same as the BE Myers KIJI but with more desirable beam patters and cost a lot less. Check out the Russian ZenitCo laser systems for your targeting laser.

Ok like, why tf is a bridge $600?? Yes, I understand that a bridge holds your expensive NV, but there's no way that shit should cost $600, thats ridiculous. Expensive for the sake of being expensive.
@alexandrasvulfgang1205 Жыл бұрын
until recently it was the only bridge on the market. the competitor is more cost efficient but has less functionality, I think Hop did a review on it recently

Yep. The only reason they're charging that is because they know people trying to buy nods likely spent years saving and they're just trying to cash in. Kind of similar to buying a home. There are SOO many useless fees during closing that are only there to try and mooch off the large transaction.

Love my Pvs-14 had it for a year now and thing is solid. I just purchased binos for the better situational awareness you were speaking of. Definitely not getting rid of the 14 carry it everyday to use as handheld incase the lights go out cuz of hurricanes or anything really. Those will also be a buddy unit so I can go on with my neighbor

A gateway is a good way to describe the Pvs 14. You can get your foot in the door for half the price of a bino. It gives me the chance to spec out my rifle the way i want and still be cheaper than a 31. It also lets you know what you're missing not having it. It gets you more excited about a bino. I don't think i would buy 31s just for the ability to break it down and have 2 14s. 2 guys with 14s is better than 1 guy with a 31. My buddies probably won't buy NV just because of the price of entry. So i can play with binos and if the need arises break it down to 2 units or buy a thermal for hunting. It's a lot more versatile than a 31

Bridged pvs 14’s are hard on the neck , I can tell you from experience . But having a kick ass dual tube set up can be done . 2) 14’s with specs that are super close from a reputable dealer . tnvc npbm-d mount , ach helmet and norotos helmet mount , Holosun IR lazer …. Under 8 grand all together 😊

I gotta' say the NPBM and PBM both look heavy as hell from the pictures.

IMO owning both, Pvs14 + thermal > binos, especially cheap end binos. Why settle for 2 nvg depths when you can get almost instant heat identification.

I’ve been battling this for a while. I started with a omni 7 pvs14, then went to my current L3 unfilmed WP with 37 SNR, 0.7 ebi, 0.7 halo, 62k gain, 2565 photo sens, 64 res, 2368 FOM and a zone 3 blem. wondering hard if a set of omni 7 RNVGS will be a better choice than my $3300 mono.

What would you recommend buying first if I knew I was going the bridged route with a pvs14/thermal? I can only afford to buy one or the other at the moment. Thanks,

I'd rather have a killer mono than a decent bino. I pulled the trigger on a 2337 fom (33+ snr) photonis echo+ PVS14. I'll have it in a few days. Cant wait!

If you are looking to bridge monos, the Nocturn Industries Tantos with the Daisho bridge is the only system that makes sense and gives you a well integrated system.

With thermal clip on imagers getting cheaper like the Infiray Jerry C5, would it be more practical to buy one of those instead of a independent thermal monocular?. That way you could use it on binos if you have them, but also could clip it onto a PVS-14 and not have to have a separate monocular for the thermal capability.
@Arkayne Жыл бұрын
While the C5 is affordable its run time with a cr123 is terrible. Thats why we always recommend the Jerry CE5 because the battery pack buys a-lot longer run time. The clarity from a dedicated thermal is usually always higher then the overlay projection style thermals. This clarity makes for quicker detection and farther ID possible of things detected.

I have thought about buying a pvs7 with gen 3+ tube, but I'm happy with a pvs14 monocular parts kit I gen 3+ tube, I don't really notice much difference I've had gen 1 binos Soviet tanker ones and I can say I prefer one eye without nvg, and one eye with night vision. My future build will be binos I'm probably going to get noise fighter bridge or a get a bino housing and get a second pvs14 image intensifier tube

Could you do a video on digital night vision? What the current abilities and limitations are, in how many years you think digital will surpass analog tubes, etc.?
@Arkayne2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we will soon. 👊
@southern.pride0 Жыл бұрын
minimum 40 years. analog radios are still nowhere near being discarded and considered out of date. analog won't go anywhere soon at all, and digital won't be useable enough for life dependent situations in at minimum 20 years. just get a lower end pvs-14 if you aren't willing to spend a lot of cast, but trust me, digital is not what you want.

Can I buy a pvs14 and later add another pvs14 to run dual 14s? Kinda end up with a $6,000 binos?

Yes but the weight is significantly more than duals. Better idea would be to sell your original pvs14 when you’re ready to buy duals

I want a Jerry-FB haha, but I think a good PVS14 and then later on a RH25 or something similar would be a better/more cost effective option for me to get going... with the way the world is going, I'm worried about night vision availability in the next 9 months, so I'd rather get something now than wait and not have anything.

People also seem to forget that NVDs gain value, if you bought a nice filmless PVS-14 in 2017 for $3300, with low tube time in good condition you could flip it for almost 4 grand to fund a bino setup
