Thats basically what he does on his channel fact fiend. He usually has one of his friends behind the camera and has a back and forth with them throughout the video. Works a lot better given his style than this more "direct address" format.

I can see a movie forming in my mind. The theives that broke into his house, in a little known part of history they actually killed his dog and the next few days were a fantastic mashup of John Wick and Merlin set in 16th century England.

Thank you for uploading this, and great job with the video Karl! A friend of mine wrote a play about Dee and Kelley's con at King Rudolf's court in Prague; I was in it, and I played Francesco Pucci, an Italian humanist scholar who was excommunicated and imprisoned by the Church for his beliefs, who crosses paths with Dee and Kelley in the play---would love to get a video on him as well!

Great video. John Dee and Edward Kelley were absolutely fascinating figures, not only for their pursuits - occultists are pretty much always interesting to hear about because of how alien their whole deal is compared to modern sensibilities - but also for their insane personal drama. Gonna recommend Iron Maiden's "The Alchemist" here for the sake of relevancy. It's a pretty good song about Dee's life and downfall. I'm sure anyone who's into that kind of thing and watching this video already knows about it, but for those who don't, I thought it might be interesting.

There is manuscript evidence to John Dee as 007, but it was probably the hand and eyes; rather than the numbers. It seems that the separation of science and religion has kept people from the relationship and living of perceived facts and meaning that brings balance. The variety of myths available will produce experiences particular to those ideas. I would think that John Dee was more likely to be who was taking advantage of Edward Kelly/Talbot; who may have been faking it till it became disturbingly real. It is a motivating set of accounts.

Couple points. It might seem he was scholarly from the courses he took in college but most people of his stature took those same type of courses. It was the norm. Also dressing in robes with long pointed sleeves etc was also a style worn by many people. Long beards was also a style. So he wasn't dressed as a sorcerer. He was dressed as a scholar maybe.

Simon ran this channel with another who has now passed. His daughter struggled to run it with him, so Simon has taken over the larger channels, whereas Karl has taken over the smaller ones (he has his own channel, knew the previous owner well enough, and was a writer for Simon for a while)
