I'll be watching your chronic kidney disease episode next. My nephrologist said he's never seen renin or creatinine levels so high. But there's nothing to worry about. Those two statements didn't seem to go together, but he assured me that they both just increase blood pressure and since I'm already on blood pressure medication, everything's fine. They (the nephrologist, the urologist, and my primary care provider) don't know why the levels are so high. It's not a mass on the adrenal gland, nor is it a blocked renal artery. Heck, the MRI revealed that I have an extra renal artery on my right kidney, which is not only fairly common to have an extra one, but also it tends to happen more often on the right side. While both of those conditions would be a bit scary, requiring surgery, at least that could fix the problem. It's neither, so they're just stumped. I could be on on renin / creatinine blocker to stop the problem directly, but that's not covered. Other blood pressure medication has generic versions, which only run about $10 for a 90 day supply, so that's what they cover.
