So this was a fever dream and a half. For those who don't know, Cabela's is a hunting store. It sounds like a restaurant, tho.

I think Bass pro Shops (which are related to Cabela's) do actually have Restaurants in them. Or at least one by me does.

Right before Phil said “this is when you fight wesker on the volcano in Africa” all I could think was “man we’re gunna run up this mountain and find out that Luke has secretly been working for Umbrella this whole time and now that we’ve seen the secret black lion project they’ve been working on, he led his own brother up here to be killed by some suped up tyrant bear so he can give umbrella more combat data”

This stream is how Phil properly learned biology
@Going4Broke25286 ай бұрын
Moose are basically megafauna that slept through the class where they learned that megafauna need more oxygen to exist. It's a semi-truck, wrapped in fur, except it's angry at you like you owe it money and screwed it's wife. IF YOU HIT ONE WITH YOUR CAR, *_IT IS MORE LIKELY TO WALK AWAY FROM THAT THAN YOU._* Why the fuck did it die in two shots?! That gun would make it LAUGH if it was not angry 24/7 365, so I guess our "conservationist" friend here has the power of cutscene bullets, but in actual gameplay. Also, Baboons are violent as hell, they would rip a man apart, and for that matter so can Chimps and pretty much any great ape. And in regards to hunting down a Grizzly after it hurts someone, that is always done in the event a person is killed, or at least partially consumed by a predator, because humans on average are easier to hunt and kill than most prey (assuming they aren't armed, which most hikers and shit likely would not be), so if said predator starts to view humans as a valid food source following said confrontation, there is a chance it will begin ACTIVELY hunting humans, which is not good. It was stated the Grizzly you go after in the post-baboon flashback level (what the fresh hell is this game, that that sentence makes SENSE) had already hurt and/or killed some hikers, (which is why it killed Dad I guess) meaning it's been marked as a problem that actually would make sense to go out of your way to kill.

In the first age, in the first battle, when the Bone Crushing Hyenas first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the blood of animals and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual Conservation. In his ravenous hatred, he found no peace, and with boiling blood he scoured the African Savannah seeking vengeance against the dark beasts who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Hunters, and those that tasted the bite of his glock named him... The National Conservative.

I’m so sorry about how long this thread will be, but I have a special interest in biology + paleontology, and for some reason I like reading scientific studies and sharing that information with others. TBH I blame my dad for getting me those cool books about anatomy that you could shine flashlights through and Wild Kratts for making me like this. This is a compilation of facts for animals that were mentioned in this stream including facts about the current day animals, how the animals and their environments were in the past, and how they differ from each other and us!
@ShoppingatAM7 ай бұрын
1.) It’s not illegal to hunt doe all the time, and is even recommended to hunt them by some wildlife experts as the idea that you can’t has led to the doe population far out numbering the bucks and in certain areas of the U.S.A it is very beneficial as in the past wolves were over hunted causing most herbivores to over populate. The only time it is illegal to hunt doe is during the spring when they are pregnant, by summer the fawn has been weaned and the doe is able to be hunted again.
@ShoppingatAM7 ай бұрын
2.) There are geese in Africa! They’re coloration resembles a cut open almond to me, with a cream color on the bottom and a toasty brown color on top, they also have a pouch under their beak like turkeys or chickens (but the African goose lacks that noticeable bright red color that most birds have that people are familiar with, with the pouch being the same color as the area around it).
@ShoppingatAM7 ай бұрын
3.) Hyenas are matriarchal in nature, with the females always being the first to eat, bathe in mud, picking where to sleep, and are the most aggressive. A lot of wildlife experts say that the best time of a male hyena's life is during his time as a cub as cubs get to eat along with the females and are pampered in comparison to their adult life. Once the male gets old enough to be weaned he is bullied by being refused food until every other hyena has eaten (which usually means no food for him) and attacked until he leaves to find a different pack (this is a strategy used to prevent inbreeding!). Unlike wolves hyenas do have an alpha, a single female that leads the large (up to 70-80 members!) pack (also on the topic of wolves although hyenas and canines look similar, they’re not even close to being related, they’re actually in the suborder of Feliformia, catlike carnivores with their closest relatives being the mongoose and meerkat). The female hyena has pseudo-male reproductive parts (this made it really hard for researchers to sex them, with one study saying that the mimicry was so good that it was almost impossible to tell the difference), female hyenas are also the only known mammal that doesn’t have an secondary opening specifically for mating and birth. Meaning that they pee and give birth out of one place. This makes reproduction harder in comparison to other species but is actually beneficial to the matriarchy as the male can’t do anything without the female’s consent and if the female changes her mind after she can basically do the hyena version of plan B and urinate to clean herself out and stop any pregnancy. They usually hunt for their food despite their status as scavengers, and a group of hunting hyenas can go toe to toe with hunting lionesses!
@ShoppingatAM7 ай бұрын
4.) Cheetahs aren’t just weird for not being able to roar, they also can’t fully retract their claws and are the only feline that can’t do this! And this is actually amazing for them, the dull claws always being somewhat out acts like cleats for an athlete and lets the cheetah do quick, tight, turns while doing highway speeds! Though this does mean that they’re not as good at climbing as other cats.
@ShoppingatAM7 ай бұрын
5.) Giraffes are actually kinda morbid, with them having been seen playing with other animal carcasses, even going as far to pick up the bones in their mouths. They’re the tallest animal on land, have a dark purplish black tongue, gray skin under their fur, and have the interesting mating display of males sword fighting with their necks. Males will form calcium deposits on their skulls forming hard bumps turning their head into what is basically a club to use to whack other males in the neck with to impress females. The spotted pattern on a giraffe is beneficial to their survival as the stippled lighting from the trees they eat from are the usual environment they need to blend in with. Lions also have a good reason to be afraid of them, two years ago in the capital city in my state of Nebraska, a man was trying to take a selfie with one of the giraffes and got headbutted which led to his eye popping out of the socket, and that wasn’t even a violent headbutt from the giraffe so imagine what they could do when pissed.

They're too busy killing 95% of the animals they capture and being worried about Pokemon, which has gone out of it's way at every turn to show that it's important to care for and respect animals. (Not to mention they just list wrong shit at times, for some reason they think you have to slaughter a sheep to get wool by the way they talk about sweaters. In fact, sheering them helps prevent them from heat-related health problems in the Summer, and their skin naturally secretes a chemical that soothes and minor nicks they get.)
