Genes may crossover before segregating. The frequency of crossover gives rise to mapping genes on chromosomes. THe larger the mapping distance, the more likely they are to crossover.

@JejeBabe Think about being at the ends of the chromosomes. On that second cross, you are a bit closer to the centromere. So, if you cross at that location, not only do the two genes I placed on the DNA cross, but all others that I didn't place as well. You see?

Will modeling of meiosis with clay is a great idea, the video forgot a critical aspect of meiosis. It occurs when the chromosomes are in the replicated state (4-strand stage).

What an amazing video mamn, I completely understood it. I was so confused about it, but now all my doubts are clear. By the way, you need to have a solid understanding of the basics to get this video :)

It's very helpful thank you, but can u plz tell me that in double cross over why the middle genes do not exchange when we draw them in gene mapping ?
@sanjuktalaha34392 жыл бұрын
Cause the middle genes are present near centromere of chromosome so crossing over is less as compared to the genes at telomere or at free ends of chromosome

I don't get it....the distance between the colors makes how often crossing over vary?

@JejeBabe When it is a single cross, everything goes with it. You need at least two crosses to have isolated genes cross over.
@JejeBabe12 жыл бұрын
it doesnt make sense why did u cross two genes on the second cross over?
@greent26tube12 жыл бұрын
Why is it 3 percent chance on the double crossover? What is the math?

@biomations could you please explain the relationship between chromosomal crossover and alleles. thank you. Does chromosomal crossover produce chromosomes that are alleles of each other?

What happened if there is only one gene on 1 chromosome?Will the crossover happen?I mean like two 2 gene A and a,if the crossover happen then how can we???

In case of diploid organisms , say mother has Aa genes for some function on X-chromosome and father has aa gene on X-chromosome both the genes will segregate during chromosomal segregation during meiosis and if one of X-chromosome have linked gene those genes in chromosome will not undergo recombination (Here genes that codes for some characters are there on x-chromosomes according to TH Morgan) there are multiple genes on one chromosomes
