Ur videos are really informative sir ,I have one confusion can u plz explain that if moment arm in open chain is greatest in knee extension so why quads need to work harder in order to get terminal extension ..b/c if moment arm is greater less force can create greater torque I believe ....
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
I think u went confused somewere the moment arm of quads is high in full knee flexion becaause of round shaped femoral comdyle deflect muscles action line. When knee extension starts moment arm also increases but it reaches maximum at 50 degree flexion and aftr that it agin decreases.Thts why terminal extension is tough work for quads

soleus pull tibia posterior means knee is in flexion or extension ? 26.00 can you please explain this .Thank you . your videos are great
@freespirit7328
@freespirit7328 3 жыл бұрын
Soleus in Close kinematics (when Foot is Fixed) will pull upper part of tibia Backwards while In the same position...Gluteus maximus will pull femur backwards...ultimately at kne joint...this whole phenomenon will try to cause Knee to go into Extenstion and Thus we need minimal Use of Quadriceps during Standing....this is what causes Line of gravity to pass anterior to the Knee joint!

hello sir , in 30.2 min you have explained about the quads role in non weight bearing, does that mean , as the patient goes from flexion to extension , the work of quads increases ?
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
ya yes ..u r right
@nikitanaik5483
@nikitanaik5483 4 жыл бұрын
But sir as the range is increasing, MA is increasing, so the efficiency of muscle should increase as u mentioned early.. so how come work load increases as the range increases? It should actually decrease ryt? I may be wrong but i am confused in this concept 😅
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
@@nikitanaik5483 here the scenario is weight cuff tighted to the leg right..just have a glance at diagram on board 30.23. We are taking about that scenario, as knee goes to extension the weight cuff also lies away from joint or its MA increases too, thats why quads need to work more

Good evening sir, so very commonly we attribute terminal extension to vmo specifically and that it's said that its necessary to strengthen the vmo in oa and ant knee pain as it will reduce the stresses on the joint by avoiding it to get an active lag. So is this really true or it's a clinical myth sort of?
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, correct as far as from biomechanical point of view its a myth as VMO or VML are fibers of same muscle innervated by same nerve....so how can we recuirt just the VMO and what about VML....will it not be activated. still its showing good results in treatrment may be bcz both of them are getting strenghted note: this is just one view....search to what latest stdies prooves and follow it good luck

Does Moment arm increases ,force generation capacity increases?
@TonysTutorial
@TonysTutorial 4 жыл бұрын
hai,sorry for delay in reply....its that when moment arm increases the torque generation capacity of muscle that increases,which means increase in moment arm enable muscle to produce more torque without actually increasing the force generation by muscle. Torque = Force * Moment arm. good luck
