According to concave convex rule ,in flexion sliding and rolling of tibia should be in post direction so what's the need to acl activation in flexion ?
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
Yes what u said is right as per concav convex rule but i dont understnd what u mean by ACL ACTIVATION? Are u refering to any muscle activation like quads or hamstring? Its just the muscles that are activated.
@shareenamehboob29744 жыл бұрын
@@TonysTutorial as u explained that in flexion the Antereo medial fiber of acl works in order to prevent ant tibial translalation ..so my question is in flexion as per concave convex rule their should be no ant tibial translation so why acl ant med fibers are getting taut?
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
Shareena Mehboob thts makes it clear...thnks for that... @shareena the concave convex rule or any rule is applicable to the intact joint. What does the ligaments do? Ligaments dont faciliate or cause motions or transalations they check and restrict it. Thts their main role. We are able to able tne concave convex rule only if the joint is intact. And that intactness is provided by both bundles of ACL at diffrent ranges of ROM. If AMB is not there what hppens theres no stabilization force in that direction! So what hppens we cant apply the rule bcz movement wont hppen in the posterir direction as theres nthing to check tibia move glide anteriorly. Its that intact ligament that maintains knee in its role and enable posterior translation to occur.

Shareena Mehboob so dont confused wth role of ligament and muscle if it was a muscle instead of AMB the things would hv been as u imagined

Hi Tony.. is there any rule or precedence in anatomy as to use inferior to superior direction and medial to lateral direction while naming ligaments or muscles or other structure ? I saw some anatomists video where they use inferior attachment of ACL as origin. They explained ACL and PCL with reference to Tibial attachment. ACL is anteriorly originated from tibia and PCL, posteriorly originate from tibia. Your views please. Thank you
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
Usually we have a reference system known as anatomical position of body, its with that we describe medial lateral, proximal distal etc. But in this case of ligaments I dont think that stands relevant.I have also noted difference in origin and insertion of ACL and PCL in anatomy texts. But in Biomechanics and from more literatures I found out it as from femur as I described in video. Anatomy texts some of them are dated ones may be thats why the difference exists.
@shailkumarjain4 жыл бұрын
@@TonysTutorial i mean to ask as to origin and insertion naming. What to name origin and what to say as insertion. I observed its inferior and/or medial attachment is considered origin and superior and/or lateral as insertion for ligaments n muscles.

Sir, one question How co-contraction increases joint compressive loads?
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
When theres cocontraction of muscles for eg. the quadriceps and hamstring contract at same time, this simultaneous contraction decrease load or strain on ACL( i explined its mechanicsm in video, pls check out), and this seems advantageous. But this is actually disadvantage to the joint as a whole. Thats bcz in the joint thers is pull or stress induced by both the muscles, as in our example anterior force by quads and posteriorly by hamstring. Therefore the total joint compression (due to muscular activity increases). I hope i could clear your doubt...if not pls be free to ask...thnk you
@sunilkumarprakash704 Жыл бұрын
In knee flexio and extension there is possible in anterior translation and prevent by AMB and PLB bundle that you explain sir but come in role with muscle while knee extensors only create load on acl during knee extension it goes for anterior translation and acl get relaxed by flexor muscles but in flexion also there is possible to anterior translation which is prevent by AMB so the hamstring muscles also rise load on AMB bundle it's crt sir??
@sunilkumarprakash704 Жыл бұрын
Sir that hamstring and soleus cause only posterior translation means then how anterior translation is happen at knee flexion??? Because the flexion is done by the action of hamstring only which leads to posterior translation
@sunilkumarprakash704 Жыл бұрын
Pls clear my doubt sir.....
@manishamasand47164 жыл бұрын
Sir, muscular co contraction will cause an increase in the joint compressive forces but is that harmful for a healthy joint? I'm a little confused 😅 in which situations will it be harmful?
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
Yes co contraction may help reliving the strain on ACL or PCL...but it effects joint adversly...thts think of a sitation in which theres activation of quads and hamstring at same time...for eg half squated position knee in flexion ...flexion maintained by hanstring but at same time buckling prevented by quads...both has to wrk to maintain that postion, so if two muscles wrks at same time the compression at joint increases along wth it...bcz joint compression is a sum of body weight comprssion plus muscular comprssion( hip unilateral and bilateral calculations).So here joint comprssion increses due to simultaneous wrking of both muscles. So in scenarios like this its detrimental to the joint health.
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
Infact this co contraction is so cool to try ...i made my students sit in that postion while dealing wth anthor example...and it was so toigh to maintain that postion for even a shorttime( when both muscles wrk) just try it out and explore Good luck

Hello sir 🙏 By mistake i asked this question from my another account ...and i deleted that. My question was that I have read that intercondylar notch have a disadvantage in some people that due to narrow intercondylar notch risk of acl injury is very high.. So , could you please make me understand this in a easy way and in a more elaborated way...

Rana u r again with a strong question,i have only read in literature about the same. And after seeing ur question i hv been thinking on it. But theres no concise evidence or theories that supprt or state the reason for this
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
Wait man, but still the corelation between ACL injury and intercondylar notch is widely accepted and suppprted. People with low intercondlyar notch have shown greater risk of sustaning the ACL injury
@TonysTutorial4 жыл бұрын
They state the reason for it with measuring the Alpha angle and intercondylar width which predisposes to the condition, but thts something u might not get at this point ...about aplha angle and other measures
@saurabhrana3564 жыл бұрын
Ok sir thank you❣️ Sir , are there any other disadvantages related to intercondylar notch with respect to other ligaments or anything else???
