I think the moment I started enjoying it was when I was scavenging my first town, it was just the vibes of being a mutated raccoon mercenary scavenging a ruined town in a post apocalyptic wasteland. That and all the cool gadgets, mutations, psi powers and cool weapons and armour. The gameplay was really fun and the way I look at the boring quests is that they are just an objective for me to test out all my gear and stuff on so I don’t mind them.

This game was a breath of fresh air for trying something different besides the typical humans=good/everythingelse=bad type plots you see EVERYWHERE these days. It was refreshing to see characters that truly felt inhuman instead of telling me characters aren't human and giving them magic powers and some generic "lore" that never explains why they look like humans. Instead, we get something different, something interesting, and something cool. I have more respect for Biomutant than I do most games these days just for what it tried to do.

I kinda treated the Narrator more like a narrator to a Documentary, someone whose commenting on how this is all happening to the audience. It worked for me that way which explains how i can accept him speaking or "Translating" for the characters.
@unripetheberrby62834 ай бұрын
Yeah! The active translating is interesting and I like his voice a lot!~ (but the idea could totally be improved/critiqued a bit..) Though, it would be a good change for some of the dialogue and* cut scenes to be shown by body expressions instead of telling, especially if it's one of the repeated dialogues like some games. Plus it'll still feel like a documentary or immersive story! :)

One of the things I love the most about post apocalyptic games, are the pre-apocalypse stories that you discover in ruins, fueling the melancholy of a world once alive, now lost. Something that all the Fallout games, including 76, do really well. So I was especially disappointed when you go into those sealed bunkers in Biomutant, and there is nothing interesting in it to discover.
@eddyguerdo248810 ай бұрын
Good video. I found the first few hours strong until you get the hang of the repetitions. My biggest problem was the repetition of the assets including the items. You see an asset, such as: a tower or a house and you know immediately where the items are. At some point you even know that there are only bad items in tower x, which is why you save the exploration. As an example, these “moats areas” in front of a fortress. You walk around the area completely mindlessly and hammer on the loot button. Once you've checked the repetions, the game is no longer fun. Nonetheless, the game was a financial success. So there is hope for a second game.

My biggest disappointment is how limited the characters were. You could basically be a few different versions of the same thing. But if you wanted to be a bird? Nope. If you wanted to be some kind of arachnid or insect? Nope. The game was built around customization/mutation but then basically offered none of it. Your only option was just the weird raccoon/weasle looking things. When I learned that, it killed any interest I had for the game.

If the fighting was improved, like having a way to actually target enemies and zooming with the gun, a way of evading or countering once you've started a combo, more cool combos, having a ki system separated from stamina, and a flow of combat more like Batman games, this game would've been a success. It still has many other areas that needs polishment, but that would've made the game much more fun

@baalfgames5318 Жыл бұрын
@@MobbBeast I feel bad for you for having nothing better to do that dictate what a person's favorite game is allowed to be. Frankly, I kind of agree with him to an extent. Biomutant, for all its faults, was refreshing. The main protagonist wasn't some generic human-sue saving humanity from everything that doesn't look like a human, with an insistance that you are not allowed to care about characters that look like things besides humans with even goodguy non-humans essentially resulting in "just another thing for you to beat up and kill" in the end, which is something FromSoftware apparently loves doing, given Blaidde and Seikiro's dragon god. It didn't actively avoid doing anything that could have added charm and life to the universe or have a "misanthropic story" with every design and storytelling choice being completely at odds with it because it STILL insists on following those cliches. Biomutant, at least, TRIED something different. The main charcter was actually unique and different compared to the endless sea of humans, the story actually allowed you to care about creatures beyond the protagonist's, the story actually had a viable excuse for the villain leaving you alive when he could have killed you, and even without the best execution, I could still respect the ideas way more than I respect supposed masterpiece games for succumbing to the same human-sue cliches even when they have no reason to (or it actively goes against their supposed tone like in Witcher 3 or Elden Ring). And, sure, I haven't been talking about the quality of the game. Here's the thing, I can enjoy a mediocre game with an interesting story and characters, but I can not enjoy an "amazing" game with infuriatingly shallow characters and a frustrating story. lot of "masterpiece" videogames DO have frustrating story and characters, and it's really easy for me to dive into how much I hate a lot of those games and why. What ultimately decideds whether I like a game or not is "am I having fun." Biomutant's gameplay isn't the greatest, but I don't think it's as bad as people let on. The story was interesting and endearing, the world was fun to explore, I had fun building weapons and taming animals, etc. Meanwhile Seikiro is a "masterpiece" and I couldn't get invested in the story, with many instances making me go "ugh!." Witcher 3, IMO, fails on both accounts. Not only is it clunky, but the whole idea behind it had so much potential to be interesting, and it just got infuriating seeing a mnster I feel bad for that I'm forced to kill, or a "monster" I'm supposed to feel bad for despite just being a human they renamed, threw some vines or horns on or gave superpowers. Biomutant, though it didn't have the best execution, at least followed through with its ideas, and it resuted in a world that felt refreshing when compared to so many other games. Can I say Biomutant is my favorite game ever? No, but I can still say I have more respect for the game than I do most games.

Played the first 1.5h so not much at all, it looks awesome (beautiful but also cartoony and original). It has good concepts but things look repetitive, exploration and looting for example. But I'd say the biggest issue is the combat, psy is kinda crap where you have to select which power you wanna use on every 1st ability cast. Plus the stock mapping is extremely stupid where you end up pressing middle button + g for electricity, middle button + right or left click for another one, not ergonomic at all. It basically made me shift from "wow for once in a game i wanna be a cast DPS and not just an idiotic war/paladin in close combat" to "ok the casting is shit i don't see myself, on PC at least, pressing multiple weirdly placed keys just to use 1 ability". Else the combo, well it looks like there are a lot of them, I'm not the type of guy who like that as i play a shit ton of different games (VR, fps, simracing, mmo etc..) and having to remember every macro and combo for every game is unfeasible. But open minded into trying for biomutant, it might be a good game I'll often come back to ! I'd say don't look at the reviews, go grab it when it's cheap (6-11 euros on PC) and try it for yourself. It has weird quirks, it ain't perfect but it seems well executed enough and odd enough to be enjoyable !
@godsmacking99 Жыл бұрын
This is one of those games that will garner a cult-like following in time. Doesn't make it a good game (because it's not) but it hits on all the artsy-fartsy indie checkmarks and goes beyond that by being a big open-world game akin to more triple-A titles. It flopped in the mainstream for a reason. Missions are repetitive and copy/pasted, just a bunch of fetch quests and generic outposts to take over, puzzles are equally repetitive and are all the same, combat is clunky, the boss fights are just a mess, the story isn't original and has been done already. It makes a good filler game to play though. A decent concept if a triple-A developer could get their hands on it and bring it to its true potential. Game plays like an indie game except way too big. Do yourself a favor and just do the main quests and don't even bother with all the side content and clearing areas because it's a waste of time and adds nothing to the game besides giving you more busywork to complete. The game is a 15 hour game that you could stretch out to 50+ hours easily going for 100%, which I do not recommend at all. Game would have been better suited as a smaller, more confined game. The big open-world doesn't help it, it just detracts from it. And the Brit narration nearly drove me up the wall and the game told me way too late in the going that you could turn it off. Reminds me of those awful kids shows I watched when I was younger like Thomas the Tank Engine or something where the whole thing is narrated. I'm another hour away from the platinum for it only because of the dumb glittermoths that hardly spawn anywhere and for some reason there's a trophy that requires you to catch 20 of them, can't wait to be done with it and move onto something that is actually good.

@rezoraptor What exactly lets you think that humans destroyed this world? I mean, except of that, the media and Game Reviews are telling us this? I finished this game a few years ago, and I don't think so, and here is why: - No Human skeletons, not even one. - All old Film material from the works before, that you find during the game, shows creatures that are still on this planet. - All closings that you find have an opening for your Tail. - On all Advertisements in the old cities are no Human. - All Old Records that you're fond have just Creatures on it that you are playing, even the old news broadcasting. So I do not believe in the Human destroyed this place and left theory.
