Actually more enjoyable than the Bionicle movies.

I never realized until seeing this masterpiece that the ONLY other thing Bionicle needed to be utterly unique and aesthetic perfection, was juuust a TOUCH of the rustic clunker junker "Tinker" aesthetic. Bionicle was always close to feeling like a lived in world, but not quite thanks to how bright and colorful everything was (Especially Gen 2, which looks more like Hero Factory) as well as how everything looked almost brand new, despite much of the Bionicle world being supposedly ancient. The look you captured with this film, giving every model more gears and textures and the shines of scratched metals, browns of rust or the grains of cast irons and darker color schemes makes the Bionicle look TRANSCEND the chains that it was held by from being a LEGO Product. A kids toy. My dream is that one day, either Bionicle enters the public domain OR is purchased by a non Lego entity that looks to lean HEAVILY into the themes and aesthetics Bionicle was only ever allowed to hint at, and embrace a darker, more violent and scarier lived in world with which to re-tell the classic stories of Bionicle but for a more matured, adult audience. I'd DIE to see how you guys would handle something like the Barraki, or the Hordika.

7:26 Great detail showing Turaga Whenua shielding the Matoran with his own body, despite the Matoran being far taller and more capable of defending himself. Whenua knows the value of Duty. Once a Toa, always a Toa.

I remember seeing the original so many years ago and not having any clue what was going on in it, but after seeing how much was added to it, I can now safely say that I enjoyed it a lot better than the original. Not that I'm discouraging it, but I'm just saying, there is absolutely nothing wrong with make extra adjustments to something after a few years. The very first scene alone tells me that this does not take place in the Bionicle timeline we all know and love, but rather in a completely different and new timeline altogether, possibly one where either the Toa all failed to stop Makuta and his Rahi army, or they had to be built by the Turaga and Matoran instead of simply falling from the sky, or they just never came at all and they had to take matters into their own hands. Either way, this movie was extremely entertaining. I loved every second of it, and the fact that I can now see this knowing what's going on and not having to come up with what the characters are saying in my head really nails it for me. As much as I can't believe I'm saying this, this cinematic masterpiece makes Metru Nui Legacy's animations look like cartoons by comparison! It makes me wonder though, what would the other Toa look like in this style, if we ever see them? And how many of the old Turaga and Matoran we know and love are still alive? Who knows at this point? Either way, though, this was excellent, and I'm looking forward to what you have in store next. :)

I am thoroughly impressed. This is probably the best production value I've ever seen in a Bionicle stop motion film. The animation is solid, the character design is awesome, especially with the eyebrows that add actual emotion to them, the special effects are great, theres some actual honest-to-god set design, and even the voice acting is a cut above most other fan films. You guys should be proud. This is the closest thing to a professionally produced Bionicle film we'll ever get again. Very excited to see more.

After looking at this, I'm profoundly amazed how well it is done. Besides one of the most well-made fan-films, I would say that it evens rivals with all of the Bionicle movies Lego did, and that's saying something. I do agree with Callan to an extent that regarding about the creepy-silent feeling being lost a bit during the battle, but overall, this is pretty impressive! I completely figured this was a dead project. I remember seeing a collection of BTS photos years back on the other toa and rahi you had made, but since then you had taken them all down. Progress looked good, and its shows that with dedication and ambition, great things can be done. I have to say that I hold strong mixed feelings over the voice work. If the voices were a little more electronic (but not distractingly or damagingly so to the point of being illegible) I feel it would add to the style. CallanLoF cited a MNOG vibe from the first video, I'd have to agree with him there. Wishing you luck on the future of this massive undertaking. Deffinitely looking forward to more, guys. Honestly. After so many years, it's good to see you see things through, even bit by bit.

Great stuff, I can see how some of the additional visual effects help add a bit more visual interest and character over your test run, particularly in the case of Onepu with the wheels working under Onua(in the OG his eyes couldn't be seen at that angle). This may be the 7 years talking, but at the same time the slight color correction changes(cleaned up lighting frames excluded of course) look a little worse, and though your creature design is as incredible and scary as before I can't help but feel it was more effective before without the screaming VA's. Hope I don't sound like a downer, cause this added layer of work really is appreciated, but a bit of the creepy MNOG vibe is lost with the inclusion of voice actors who, while all had fine mics, felt a bit varied and almost comedically oriented in their voice work. My point for the future is you had a good thing going 7 years ago with the initial release and when you do finish this project, I hope you keep mind of the quiet moments without dialogue, cause a lot of those in the original version felt a bit more effective than the constant fearful moans here. Then again, that's just my opinion, and this is still one of the coolest contributions to BIONICLE animations ever put together. Keep it up!

@Sir_knight_trooper6 жыл бұрын
@@squidtron-ck9rq ok but i just worry moding a bionicle style story with 1/6 scale ww2 tanks whold look bad the problem i have is more of the interaction between characters i have motive for combat and tactics in place but dialog between the soldiers and the people is wonky and doesn't sound like people in a war torn village. basically the start of the hole movie is perfect but the middle and end are my problem areas because most of the story is the people and soldiers trying to work together but having conflicting ways of doing it or different end goals

10 wonderful minutes of stop motion animation are a rare sight alone - but those ten minutes coming with consistent lighting, solid effects, a SMOOTH PANNING CAMERA (seriously impressed by that,) excellent comprehension of organic movement, props that really sell the setting...and on top of that, we have genuinely impressive voice acting, music, plot, characters, and SFX - I'm legitimately shocked at this quality. This quality of animation just isn't seen on KZbin much, especially with stop motion of all types! I'd love to see the storyboards for this fantastic animation. Really get to see the creative direction that lead to this final product. (Also, Crowne Prince should totally review this animation on Scribble Kibble. I don't think she's talked about stop motion much before, if at all. This would be an excellent choice for an episode on that medium of animation.)
